Nice review! Very informative and entertaining - keep it crackin' ;) I was just about to buy the stanley for its sturdyness, but I noticed that the inside lid is made of plastic. I wonder if that really is necessary :/

That is not fair, the Klean Kanteen's lid was open.

And not the insulated lid like the Stanley is using and KK has standard as well but he used the cafe cup.

Just a note mate, Costa do a plastic thermal mug, using the same lid as the Starbucks one you show, I've used several, but all got dropped so not bothered again, kept coffee hot for a good 4 hours, and I mean sip only hot. PS I'm a parcel courier by trade so looking for a decent drink vessel, looks like Stanley gets it!

Cheers Ian, yeah the Stanley is an absolute beast of a flask, you could make a tea in the morning and it’d still be warm in the afternoon, it’s excellent.

Adding a cold thermometer to the starbucks one each time will draw extra heat from that one.

To compare with one having an insulated lid and the cafe cup on the KK instead of the insulated lid that they come with. Bad comparison.

If you haven't already then i suggest you fill up a stanley and a KK flask hold them both and you will see that the Stanley feels cool to the touch whilst the K feels hot, So regardless of what lid i used the end result would of been the same. I appreciate the input though. Regards.

you can only boil water to 100°C at sea level ;)

You have to refill with boiling water each time. Continuing after you use a thermostat introduces the fact that each is measured and opened for a different amount of time. Terrible science, should be obvious that each time measurement should be done with each bottle closed for that entire time. Put in boiling hot water, wait 1 one hour. Replace then wait 2. Opening it comprises for an unspecified amount of time to take a temp ruins the entire thing.
