I work at a liquor store. Not the most glamorous or rewarding job. Sometimes I play classical music and you'd be surprised how many people say, "Great music." as I ring them up. It seems these days everything is meant to divide people, but great music will always bring us together.

This should not only be the anthem of the EU, it should be the anthem of the whole world one day.

The man leading the orchestra was the conductor. The composer was the very famous Ludwig von Beethoven. You should attend a classical concert some time. You would enjoy it very much.😊

There is not much in this world that can make this old combat veteran shed a tear, but this does. The 9th Symphony by Beethoven is quite possibly the most beautiful piece of music ever composed. Ludwig van Beethoven, born in 1770, a composer famous in his own time, was a musical prodigy, publishing his first work at age 13 and his first major orchestral work, the 1st Symphony, premiered in 1800. He began to lose his hearing in 1798, eventually becoming mostly deaf, only able to hear low tones and sudden loud sounds before his death in 1827. This infirmity did not stop him, however, as he continued to compose and create some of his best known works. It may be a work of fiction, but you need to watch "Immortal Beloved", starring Gary Oldman as Beethoven.

The European anthem! One of the greatest melodies, very melancholy as well.

A nice reaction Jayy. Apart from being a beautiful and uplifting piece of music for a lot of Europeans (mainly members of the European Union - EU) it is important because it is the Anthem of the EU. Take care

JAYY, I have seen this flashmob several times and HAPPY to see you react to it. There are SO MANY different FLASHMOBS on You Tube. You should react to some more! "Ode to Joy" is one of my favorite classical pieces, and I had it played as my recessional when I got married (when the bride and groom leaves the altar after the ceremony) ALSO, since you are also a Beatle girl, you should KNOW that if you ever react to the BEATLES 2nd MOVIE "HELP!" you will HEAR "ODE TO JOY" in their movie during one of the scenes....it's really funny how they incorporated it (the full symphony/choral version) MORE FLASHMOBS!!!

It was fun to see you so excited about this. It was a shortened version of what most consider the best piece of classical music ever written. Beethoven was the composer, and he has been dead since 1827. The man you thought was the composer was simply the conductor if I was paying close enough attention. The original runs approximately 32 minutes. The entire symphony takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to play. Here is the link to my favorite version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4aAya5xoL3TpJs.html Give it a listen; you won't regret it. This movement (the 4th) and the 2nd are the most highly regarded from what I can tell. Personally, I love the 3rd movement for its sweetness and tenderness, though I challenge you to sit still during the 2nd movement. You can decide for yourself.
