i saw this on dankpods, it's looks like History is repeating itself.mmmm.....if you don't learn your history you are doomed to repeat it.

I did the exact same thing and literally everything that could go wrong did.. flash modded it, found out backlight wasn't working, decided to make custom expanded battery in the meantime, then the iPod wouldn't display anything on the screen. after that i accidentally ripped the screen. currently waiting for a new screen on Monday, hoping that will end this saga!

If you want to try this, do what DankPods did and put something between the flash and the motherboard. If you don't do this, you'll risk shorting the motherboard and killing it. Don't ask me how I know this.

There is a piece of cardboard between the boards, separates and helps prevent rattling.

It went from "Sad Boi" to "Mostly sad boi/Garfunkel killer".

I like your Dankpods imitation, even going out of your way to get your own "sexy speaker". Even though, I have two mp3 players that get the job done for me, I was debating on getting myself either an iPod mini or 4th gen classic. The main thing that prevents me from either is well, these things are old and pretty much DIY projects as I see them, nowadays and when it comes to modding, I'm not a tech person.

Bro this is how I feel right now, I’m trying so fucking hard to not lose it trying to find out what I’m doing wrong trying to get a 512GB card in there and it’s literally the same antics in this video 😭😂

You should copy off all that music off those drives. I did on my iPod. You just enable the iPod for disk use and then uncheck hide hidden files and folders and then look for an iPod control folder and inside that there are folders with every song on the iPod they will be renamed to four random letters or numbers per file like ER45.mp3 GHUI.mp3 something like that and copy every folder in the music folder.

Fat32 for card and clip the edge of the adapter where it makes contact with the larger plastic pin on the ribbon cable connector

i have a problem with replacing ipod battery it says its fully charged but when i unplug the meter is half full and it goes to empty but still on

I DID have an issue :/ My usb doesnt connect properly and it wont stay in disk mode if plugged into the computer. It reboots constantly when plugged in, but will stay in disk mode when not plugged in. I'm getting a new cable..if that doesnt work...to ebay for a "new" gen 4 color. It didn't do that before, but then, the old drive was dead af. I bought it new in 05 :/

First.

I built a 5th gen iflash solo and regretted it after 1 month. Everything works perfectly but an iPod is supposed to use a hard disk. If you want a flash media player then buy a new Sony Walkman that runs on Android. I missed the vibrations and noises that the HDD would produce.

Got a 5.5 gen and just left the HDD in it, probably will for as long as the drive stays alive. Although I do have a spare 5.5 board I might just do a a flash mod with that board and have both
