NICE! First vid I ever saw making pie crust look EASY! It is! I make pies all the time. The more practice the better. I fold over my crust a few times too! Makes it FLAKIER! 👍👍👍🥰

I've substituted unflavored coconut oil for the shortening, and I find no difference.. Bonus: coconut oil us healthier for you..

@@TorqueMonsterAWD Yes, but it makes excellent pie crusts, and keeps it from getting too brown. She used only a little. I make mine the same way. Have for years.

I love your videos. Always straight & to the point. You know you’re a success when other shorts try to copy your style. Every time I see someone trying to copy your style I chuckle to myself & think you’ll never get to where she is until you find your own style & do your own videos.
Betty Crocker has the best pie crust recipe. Add as much shortening and water as dough can hold. Super flaky and moist.

So im going put my shortening in the fridge from now on!! I usually keep xtra butter 🧈 in the freezer, I grate the butter like you would cheese!! Easy pease when frozen!!

Good idea ice cubes in chilled water. Do you ever brush your unbaked crust with egg yolk then bake a bit before filling your pie?

And if you don't follow all these little details ("scoop, never dunk!"), you risk having a crust that may be only 97% as good as hers, which isn't worth living for. However even if you make it with your feet it will be MUCH better than a store-bought, so in the end you really can't do it wrong.

I always make the crust. I know people buy crust and brag about baking a pie, but that's not me.
I made 75 pie crustes to freeze one year with my MiL. I've had arthritis is my hands every since. I can't make a bad crusty. Don't know why, it's just the way it is.

Shereen, we’re getting ready to build our final dream house. Im doing double column fridge and a freezer in the scullery. I wish you were with me when i’m going to the kitchen appliance place. Thermidor or Wolfe (i think i prefer Wolfe) but there’s so much. What’s one thing you wouldn’t live without. Luckily, cost won’t be an issue. Any suggestions? Would love to know how you did your flour drawers??

😂 i can't crimp a pie! I have been making the pie for thanksgiving the last 2 years and every time i think my crust is crimped that sucker bakes and shows me what a fool ive been.
My recipe is a bit similar but has a few more ingredients. But I can roll it out immediately and it’s the flakiest pastry ever.
