My favorite flag symbolism is Bhutan's. The orange half represents Buddhist tradition while the yellow represents civil tradition and temporal authority, with the dragon between them to show their equal importance and evokes the strength of the sacred bond between sovereign and people. The trident on Barbados's flag comes from its colonial coat of arms, and it's meant to be the head of a trident broken from Poseidon's trident on the flag, symbolizing that Barbados broke away from colonial rule! I love the celestial globe on the Brazilian flag as much as you do! It reflects the sky over the city of Rio de Janeiro in November 1889 when the Republic was proclaimed. Not only that, but each star corresponds to a Brazilian Federal Unit, so the flag has to be updated every time a state is created or dissolved. When it was first adopted, it had 21 stars and was last updated in 1992 to include Amapá, Roraima, Rondônia and Tocantins for 27 stars. So there are 26 stars for the different states, and another for the Federal District (the capital Brasília). Brunei (not Burundi) is quite the epic flag. The field of yellow represents the Sultan. The hands symbolize the benevolence of the government. The crescent represents Islam. The parasol represents the monarchy, and the wings symbolize justice, tranquility, peace, and prosperity. And the black and white stripes represent Brunei's chief ministers/senior advisors the Pengiran Bendahara (First Minister; represented with white) and the Pengiran Pemancha (Second Minister; represented with black), with the white stripe being slightly wider than the black one to signify the First Minister's role. The flag after Botswana was Belarus. The part of the flag that was cut off is a traditional Belarusian decorative pattern.
