FJ45 Landcruiser Restoration | Fitting the LSA Part 2/2 | Engine and Gearbox are in!! | Episode 13
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Jafffa Adventures continues the FJ45 restomod series.
The restoration of my Toyota Landcruiser FJ45 continues. In our last video, I completed the body mount repairs on the tub so that I could locate it on the chassis before fitting the motor and gearbox, see link below.
• FJ45 Landcruiser Resto...
The tub is back on the chassis and I am now at a stage where I can fit the LSA and six speed automatic gearbox. This now allows me to locate the engine and gearbox mounts that will allow me to fit the LSA and 6L90e six speed automatic transmission. Follow along with me on this restoration journey...laugh, cry, and maybe even learn something!

You're right Terry, it's a thing of beauty. And I took your advice and enjoyed a cold beverage while I watched you work.

Nice job, but intercooler would go infront of rad and use the space in front of motor for fans. Also should speak to engineer before notching the chassis and you don’t want to do all the work and then when engineering come around have the chassis fail.
@JafffaAdventures

The intercooler on the LSA’s is actually a water unit that sits between the supercharger and the engine in the charge air stream. Cooling lines run from there to a small radiator to cool the water and subsequently the charge air. I’ll mock it up as I go to determine if the intercooler radiator best fits in front of or behind the engine radiator. An interchiller is also an option for me. Thanks for watching Oliver😎👍
Should be a beast. I did a supercharged injected 5 ltr and 4 speed auto into a 60 back in 93 and that was mad. 585 hp in a forty should definitely get the job done. Just curious did u say intercooler behind radiator? If space is issue maybe interchiller. Huge power gain and nice cold charge. Look forward to next edition.

Thanks Errol, I would have liked a ride in your beast! I did say intercooler, but I am aware of the Interchillers as well. I don’t think power will be my issue, traction will be the killer😎👍
Hi Terry, its impressive to see the progress, good work. Quick question; can you share details of the adpater and the transfer case you using.
@JafffaAdventures
2 жыл бұрын
Sure can. It's an 80 Series transfer case using a Mark's Adaptor plate. I have a video for the work I have done on the transfer case and fitting the adpator and this can be found in my video library if you are interested in more detail. Thanks for the question and for your kind words mate, I sincerely appreciate them both! Cheers.
Terry love the series, awesome work. Only one question I have. Is there a minimum angle the engine can be mount in a car. Cheers Hans
@JafffaAdventures
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Hans, you are very kind. The angle of the motor is really determined my the pinion angle. There is no real minimum angle. Cheers😎👍
Love the build mate , do you have a link for the bell housing torque converter cover that goes between the starter motor ?

Thanks for the kind words Gino, I appreciate it very much. I just got it off epray. Search LS1 starter motor cover bracket or similar and you should find one. Mine was second hand. Cheers😎👍

@@JafffaAdventures Good to here I am currently doing the same project as you and wish to know how you reference the motor to the chassis as I finding it hard to Centre the motor to the Centre of the chassis
@JafffaAdventures
2 жыл бұрын
The video I am working on now is just the transmission tunnel fabrication. Centring the motor and gearbox was done in the previous episode in a bit of detail. If you have any specific questions after watching that Peter fire away and I will do my best to help. Cheers😎👍
I have some questions : 1) Did you ever think about installing a diesel V8 ? 2) Did you mean BHP or KW when you said 550 ?
@JafffaAdventures
2 жыл бұрын
No mate, I was not interested in a diesel V8. I wanted a loud teeth mashing maniac petrol motor that I can rev the fork out of. The diesel V8 would pull like a freight train (I have one in my LC200) but is not as much “fun” as the petrol. Keep in mind, this will not be an off road weapon, it’s a street car and work ute first and foremost. If I was going to use it extensively off road, then a diesel would have been my first choice. The LSA is rated at 556bhp which converts to about 409kW. Cheers😎👍

Hi, What transfer case are you using with that 6L90e and what adaptor are you using to mate the tranny to the T-case. Is your tranny from a 4x4 vehicle ?
@JafffaAdventures
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Claude. It’s a crate transmission with a Marks adapter kit. All transfer case details are contained in this video “How to Install a Marks 4WD Transfer Case Adpator in my FJ45 Landcruiser Restomod”. This and the video detailing the transmission can be found in the Jafffa Adventures library if that is of interest. Cheers 😎👍
