JAFFFA Adventures is channel for people with a passion for adventure travel, four wheel driving, camping, vehicle modifications, and a bit of light hearted humour. New videos are posted regularly so be sure to subscribe.
My name is Terry and I am not sponsored nor do I make any money or receive any freebies for my efforts. So why do I do this you might ask? Three main reasons:
1. I love learning. I am relatively new to video editing and am enjoying the creative process behind shooting and editing videos, and the storytelling that goes along with it.
2. I have always been interested in nature and photography, and this is a great outlet to explore that passion further.
3. Sharing. Most people want to contribute in some way or another, it is human nature. This is my way of contributing and I trust you will find value in what you watch.
The name JAFFFA had its genesis over 25 years ago with a small group of friends and stands for "Just a Few Friends Fooling Around”.

Awesome work, great to watch. I am looking at doing a 79 scoop on my next project so this will be very helpful 👍
Cheers mate, I appreciate the kind words. I did one on my 200 and recorded the process if you want additional resources. Cheers👍😎 Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series Bonnet (hood) Scoop Installation using a 79 Series Donar Scoop - Ep 1 kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5Z_u7Oup8LHnJM.html
Could you pls share brand & model of that winch that erects the tent?
Brilliantly practical review, thanks!
Cheers Gavin, I’m glad you found some value here. I also have a video with the tent “fails” in the library. It’s still going strong however, and I continue to rate it highly. I type this at the start of a 2 month adventure with the tent once again👍😎
@@JafffaAdventures was going to ask if you’d still recommend it 👍👏😉
@gavinsmith28 sure would mate👍😎
Why wouldn’t you use the locks, less strain on the vehicle which still has a massive tour in front of it ….👍
I do
@@JafffaAdventures exactly and I completely agree with your reasoning
Cheers 😎
Wow. That was a lot of work. But we’ll worth it.. great finish..great car..I’m very jealous..😜😜
Cheers Richard. Had it out for a cruise today, loved it😎👍
Terry the balloons catch the wind and blow the fisherman’s bait out, supporting the bait up near the surface, they’re tied on with light line and break off when they get a strike
Cheers mate, that’s good to know. Thanks for sharing 😎👍
I am loving this tour, just when I think it can’t get any better …. It does ! Thank you so much for sharing your trip.
That’s very kind of you to say mate, thank you😎👍
Okay I like your Chevy. I have a 57 3/4 ton 3600 I'm fixing up big window in back. It's in ok shape needs everything new on it 283 66 Year and a 3 on the tree 🌲 . It's all going to be a original parts not going to do anything fancy 😕. Right now it's in a thousand pieces it's going take me for every to get it done 👍.
Great sounding project mate, enjoy😎👍
The work on those doors is truly humbling man! Beautiful work!
Cheers mate, that’s very encouraging for me😎👍
That's awesome mate, you're a keener man than me. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve, that’s very kind👍😎
Good work Terry, you have more patience than me, while I remember, Graphite would be my choice if you want a dark colour or go with Crystal Pearl like my new toy which would be good for the Qld heat
Cheers Greg, appreciate your input 👍😎
Love these work shop videos, keep up the good work Terry. Martin Thailand 😎
Thanks Martin, I appreciate the support 😎👍
You got lucky with your pump. I had two fail around 70.000km each. Toyota Coolant and all. I believe the fan + hub is so heavy the bearing isn't too happy with the weight.
Thanks for sharing Mick, cheers😎👍
Canadian accent but with Aussie slang = hillarious! SUBSCRIBED. Very nice workspace you have got. I'll peek your channel - I see some projects in the background.
Cheers Mick, been a citizen for 30 years now so bound to pick up the odd bit of slang😉. Many many projects on the channel mate, you might find something that tweaks your interest. Enjoy your stay mate😎👍
I would have to agree Terry, these vids give the viewers a great perspective (and respect) for what you are doing. I watch in awe as this is so much detail, but the reward will be great.
Thanks Geoff, I appreciate the feedback and kind words mate. Cheers😎👍
I always disconnect the sway bar when I'm shooting for full droop. The shock on the other side, acting through the sway bar will limit how much droop you get on the the broken side.
Cheers👍
Great work. Looking to do something similar and this is the best resource I have seen.
Cheers Mark, it’s a lot of work but will be worth it😎👍
Loving this content, the solution / work involved in the hinge mounts is especially clever, well done.
Cheers Peter, I appreciate your kind words mate😎👍
Fantastic love watching you do things like that. Well done Hans
Thanks Hans, that’s very kind of you to say. Cheers😎👍
Subscribed! Love your work and the details you go into.
Cheers Matt, I’m glad you have found some value here. Enjoy your stay mate😎👍
Looks great Terry
Cheers mate, I appreciate the kind words😎👍
The FJ45 Franken bonnet rocks - great job Uncle Terrry :-)
Thanks Craig, it did my head in that’s for sure😎👍
The project FJ is coming along real nice... great stuff Terry. Keep up the good work. :)
Cheers mate, I am humbled that you have carved some time out of your day to follow along. That means a lot to me😎👍
absolutely impressed with your knowledge, vision and skills. No….. will not play chess against you sir 🏋️♂️
Cheers mate, many many mistakes along the way, that’s how I learned and am still learning. I appreciate you following along, that is very humbling 😎👍
Great job on the 45!!! Just gotta ask, Why wear rubber gloves while welding???
I don’t want to get dirt under my finger nails mate😉😎
Ba ha!! I know this is "past tense" but at times I couldn't help myself to say "Terry!"🤣 (only cause I know a few cheats to help & then you did half of them anyway😉) but then I your saw the billet hinges & I knew none of it matters as I know it will end up great no matter the process, which you very clearly think through anyway! Who was Don that you stole the level from? 😂😂The bracing for the hinges will of course be critical for a long lasting job (but I bet they are already sorted anyway!) Looking forward to the continuation of this, even though I'm into the early stuff it's still custom which many people dare attack let alone actually finish!! (time for a beer from all the thinking!) Cheers!!
Cheers mate, I’m humbled you continue to follow me as I stumble along. I don’t know Don, but I hear he was on the level😂👍
@@JafffaAdventures 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The workshop episodes are great. I have mainly Ryobi 18v Drills, but a couple Makita 18v Drills and Angle grinders have also found their way in. My Welding skills are shite. I handball them on to our son. Love watching you cut and patch the panels.
Thanks mate, I appreciate you sharing and following the journey. I have only killed a couple of lime green tools but their warranty is top notch. Bring dead tool in, walk out with new tool free of charge 😎👍
If your feeling the green Terry, have you checked out some Porsche greens?
I have not mate but thanks for sharing 😎👍
Jaguar green better ❤
Ok
@@holgermuller2987 As long as you don't own one, you're trustworthy 🤣
😂
Looking like something now done well my brain gave up half way enjoy
I think my brain tapped out too😂👍
Good job mate 👍
Cheers mate, thanks for the kind words😎👍
Brilliant job Terry the ol girls going to be a beast.
Thanks Andrew, it’s a slow journey with a lot on my plate but support like yours keeps me inspired. Cheers 😎👍
Great video to watch at lunch eating a chilli pie and to try and get my head around all the elements that you just did. No surprise that it must fry your mind. Just wondering what proportion of your day do you think about or work on your vehicles, and has that all increased since you have retired? Avagoodone Terry, the process of this rebuild is enthralling to put it mildly. 😀👍
Thanks Andrew, I am humbled that you continue to follow along. Believe it or not, I only think about the job when I’m actually doing it. If I hit a roadblock (which is more often than I care to admit), I close the shed door and have a sleep on it. The next morning, it seems to come to me more easily. I think subconsciously I must be working out the problems, but consciously I’m just trying to keep breathing. Cheers my friend 😎👍
@@JafffaAdventuressleeping on it is a wise approach, something that I all too often fail to do. 👍
Again, thanks for your moral support mate, it means a lot 😎👍
For a bloke that uses a humble Ryobi death wheel, you sure can weld sheet metal, mate. I’m really enjoying this series.
Thanks Mick. I’m not skilled enough to graduate to a Milwaukee or similar, so I’ll stick with the lime green ninjas like most back yard hacks😎😂
@@JafffaAdventures great comeback. She looks great.
Thank you sir😎👍
Haha, I just lost a mouthful of beer thinking why I now changed to an unmentioned orange colour tool (no, not Trump.) The green ninja users get the rough end of far too many pineapples, sans lubricant.
@@mini_steve 😂😂😂😂🤓
Hello Terry , see You are in the workshop now , are You going to do something about the chip in the 200,s windscreen , loving the FJ45 restoration .... Cheers Dave ....
Thanks Dave, I’m glad you are following along mate, that is very humbling. The windscreen has been replaced😉 I have a Tasmania series coming up shortly where your friend the chip continues its cameo, but after that I have a Flinders Ranges series that is all clear😎👍
Hyundai service manual for my Sonata says that the ATF turning black is normal and doesn't indicate that the oil needs replacing. I'm aware they could be trying to get you to screw up the transmission but this was written in 2000 so I suppose things weren't so bad back then
A change in colour can only mean the chemical or physical properties of the fluid have changed or there is contamination from wear parts or contamination introduced from the environment. Whatever the scenario, something has changed from when it was originally installed and that’s reason enough for me to swap it out. 👍
What's up with the Soviet Union flag ? 🤔
My grandfather was born there and immigrated to Canada when he was a young lad. Without his bold move during a time where he could have been executed for his actions, my family would not enjoy the freedom we do today. It honours him❤️
Is the truck bump stopped properly for the extended travel shock? Just because they are longer does not mean they stop the uptravel earlier.
Yes
Glad i saw this video, i guess ill be going with bilsteins instead
Ok
1st gear high range off the beach, were you in high in the dunes near Lincoln?
For the most part. Low range is too slow with too much torque and you just end up burying yourself👍
What is it with that rat squeaking voice that comes on every now and again?
Beats me
Lochs Well had posts and chain leading down to the beach when 8 was a lad, was a real battle climbing back up with a heap of salmon
Cool story😎
With all that complicated custom restoration repairs, I would have substituted the straight steering column with a safety steering system, reinforced the cabin, doors, floor, and hardtop to upgrade the body to today's crash protection standards. Everything else was a wonderful remanufacturing and restoration work. You have a unique 1957 restored Chevy Bel Air. Thanks.
Cheers😎
Wow what customer service by ARB! They literally stand by their product even though you exceeded the warranty coverage 👏 i just installed these about 200 miles ago and when I first saw the video thumbnail I had some serious concern but after seeing how long you had them on and the mileage I felt better about them and the icing on the cake how ARB handle it. Thanks for the video 🍻
My pleasure Stephen, I don’t think you will be disappointed. Thanks for stopping by, cheers👍😎
It was probably cracked before it happened and it just finished it off 🤷
Very possible mate👍
I’ve heard of this failure happening a few times. I actually called ARB and asked if it was an issue as I have BP51. The response was “they’ve never heard of this happening before” clearly they can’t deny it now. Surly there has to be a safety recall!
Thanks for sharing👍
Thanks so much for confirming the location of the 5 bolts!!i couldn't find one
All good mate, that fifth one is very tricky😎👍
I had same failure back around 2018. 200 series front with less than 30k km. Wife was driving picking kids up from school (just started driving and went over speed bump near the school). We had just returned from 18k km trip around WA from east coast. Appeared to be too small of a radius where the shock shaft ends at the bottom. Local dealer who fitted the kit was excellent and replaced all 4 shocks with new ones. Disappointing to see from a premium product. I wonder how many others there are
That is a good news story in the end mate, thanks for sharing😎👍
That's amazing service from ARB/ OME.
Agree 100% mate👍😎
Thanks Terry. Just to double check, you did three flushes ( 2 litters each) I presume you add 2 litters after each flush. Right? Also I presume you keep the flush hose and switch the car off during the filling of the 2 litters, right?. Also, do we need to change transmission fluid filter?
That is correct on both accounts mate. I did not change the filter because it’s a pretty course mesh and really only good for filtering out birds and small children. Having said that, if you have the pan off for whatever reason it can’t hurt. Cheers😎👍
