Hey Matt, this is a cool feature that you’re using for portraits. This would work flawlessly for any product photography. As far as portraits, it would be amazing if Lightroom let us export the mask it creates with its mask subject feature. I feel like Lightroom’s masks are always better than what Photoshop generates with selecting subjects.

Hey Matt - I took your Advanced Compositing class through Summit Workshops a couple years ago - we learned how to do these shots with 4 lights and a black background - just wondering which method you prefer? Thanks Matt!

Awesome! It really depends. This one works well if done correctly and saves time.
Matt, you showed the Mask settings on your background light, but what about the main light? Do you set that to Mask 1, or just not set Mask at all on that light?

Sorry I should have been more clear about that. You set “All” to the number of totally lights, in this case 2. Then you set one of them to sequence 1 and the other to sequence 2.
