    I watched this video 2 years ago and I just watched it again as a refresher. This is such a fantastic video Roxanne. I recently bought some bigger dpns for making swatches to practice these techniques. This will be my first one on these new needles. When I learned Judy’s Magic Cast on with your tutorial I used a large circular and just kept practicing. This advice you give about swatching to practice is invaluable! Best advice ever! Thank you Roxanne!🤗🤗. I’m starting to like swatching and practicing almost as much as working on a project!

    Great video Roxanne! I just had this issue last Wednesday when I was in class. I was working on a scarf with brioch knit stitch and some skps. I ended up with 1 extra stitch. I figured that it was an extra yarn over and was going to just slip it off when I got to that stitch. But no, I had to try and tink back. Big mistake! Luckily my teacher worked her magic and fixed it. What could have been an easy fix turned into a disaster. I spent my whole class working on this mess that I was originally just working on to keep busy while she worked with new students. Good lesson learned. I’m so happy you posted this. Your instruction is so clear! Thanks!

I just keep making that mistake with the working yarn, and even though I'll still have to go back and manually tighten the gaps it's still SO much easier than tinking back 144 stitches.

I do have a number of teal shirts, and a couple of green sweaters, but the green doesn't always come across in the video, so other people often think they are blue. My favorite color is actually red. I have a question 🙋‍♀️ I’m a total knitting beginner. I’m making a shawl which has knit stitches on both sides with increases put in regularly on the right side, but which I have to twist on the wrong side. I only just noticed I must have forgotten to do a twist on one of the passes and have a hole 6 rows down. Can I use this technique with the “ladder” technique (I think that’s what you called it) to fix it?

  • @namtsewhsit
    @namtsewhsit Жыл бұрын

    New to laddering down. Working on a top down cardigan with raglan increase of yo, k1, yo. I knit across with the increases and purl back not increasing on the purl side. When I am fixing my yo mistake 8 rows down and coming up the ladder, do I put yo in every row or every other row. The purl row would not get the yo. I am getting too many stitches so I am thinking I should only put the yo back on the needle every other row.. Is this correct?

  • @RoxanneRichardson

    @RoxanneRichardson

    Жыл бұрын

    If you're supposed to create a YO every other row, then when you ladder down, you will also so create a YO every other row as you ladder back up. You create the YO on one row, and you work it on the next.

    Ok I was so glad to learn this technique, however my problem is when I'm happily knitting along and see that I have an inadvertent yarn over that made a hole in my stockinette stich. Is there any way to fix this or just the way I do now, which is to close it later with a needle and yarn? I will likely not rip back 100 rows for this error

    In the unhappy process of tinking back to correct a mistake, I somehow created another mistake by dropping 3 yarn overs (in a column), in another section of my lace pattern. I can find instructions to fix the lowest yarn over, but have no clue or answers on fixing and attaching the 2 above the fixed one. Do I have to tink back 2 rows to fix these, or (please Lord!), is there a way to gain control of this yarn over "ladder"? (I'm knitting in the round...with 400+ stitches!😢

    Hi Thanks for posting these informative videos but I have an additional question on what to do. I’m knitting a hat in English rib. I’ve never tried English rib before and end up with mistakes here and there that I’ve been trying to fix. I can’t find a video of how to fix forgotten or dropped yarns over in English rib, don’t think it’s quite the same as I sometimes end up with a hole in the knitting which is completely unwanted. Have you got a video somewhere that I can watch?
