very helpful , thank you , messing up a double stitch is so scary and love how you pull apart the physical of how stitches are formed to take some of the mystery out of it.

You've just saved me a whole load of time, thank you! Only recently started using German short rows for shaping, and didn't think about the consequences of removing my stitches so I could roll back and fix a mistake.

I am so grateful for this help! I have been so frustrated by my aging brain's tendency to forget the GSR. Tinking has made a bigger mess. I've started over on my GSR sock toe about four times. Was just about to give up when voila! here's this SOS. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much for this. I came to you because I really wanted to understand what was going on … and now I do! I did try knitting a swatch yesterday before watching this video to see if I could figure it out for myself but, sadly, I could not. Thank heavens for your channel!

Great video as always :) Do you have a video on how to undo a double stitch? I think I did one where I shouldn't have so I want to undo it now that I'm right there. I've searched endlessly and can't find any that show that. Your videos are so easy to understand! Thanks for all of them

Amazing!! Just saved my DS that I had dropped at a very technical part in my sweater! So happy I don't have to rip back my work at this point. You are a lifesaver!! Thank you for this amazing video complete with bookmarks! One of the best instructional knitting videos I have ever watched. Bravo!

Thanks, Roxanne! I have a follow-up question regarding fixing a separated GSR double stitch. I knit a row of work where I was knitting into GSR double stitches, then I had to tink back. In backing up, one of the GSR double-stitches got separated. I have secured the stitch and the loop that, together, comprise the double-stitch, and they now look like two separate stitches on the needle. How to I return those 2 stitches (really, one stitch one one loop) to a double-stitch? I don't really want to pick up a running thread between stitches, because I don't need to create another loop on the needle. I just need to recombine the 2 that are already there. I hope this makes sense! And from watching your video, it looks like I probably need to have the purl side facing me, as the loop slants to the left. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Can you help me please? I can make a double stitch just fine on the purl side but when I do it on the knit side it doesnt work. It just makes a big knot on the needle. I bring the yarn forward, slip purlwise, and pull the yarn up, but it doesn't make a double stitch. What am I doing wrong?

Different designers have various ways of indicating how/when to turn, slip and pull the yarn over the needle. Check the pattern to see if there are notes about working GSRs, and how they are described in the pattern. If you still can't figure it out, contact the designer.

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!...update: well, I figured out when I was taking down stitches to backtrack, I was taking down a double Stitch rather than just unwinding it so basically I was dropping a stitch I was dropping that double Stitch was really hard to figure out but I finally saw it yay!😂😮wheew!
