Fixing the Fuel Tank on the Innocenti Spyder
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today I take a look at my Innocenti S Spyder that has been sitting on my shelf of cars for years. It is time to fix the fuel tank so that the car can finally run off of it's own fuel.

That design with the removable pickup is loads better than the Sprite/Midget tank where it’s a much bigger problem if that pipe gets blocked or worse, rusted through. Ingenious Italians.
Your methods are always a revelation. Most would just replace the the tank but your approach is to fix things if possible and replace if necessary. Bet you would have a hard time finding a replacement if at all.

You would not find a new tank, a tank for a Mark I Sprite (Bugeye) would have to be modified to work.

Great advice for owners of classic cars on a budget!
Yay, great to see the Innocenti back on the channel! Really looking forward to watching it go out for a drive someday...
I saw Low Buck Garage use the spring cover to a mower throttle cable, spun by a drill, to clean out a clog. Worked well.
Good job on getting that done. Like it so much more when you’re fixing something
A braided wire like an old choke or throttle cable can be chucked in a drill instead of solid wire. I've used that to clear the engine block coolant drain tap on TR3 engines. Flexible and the multistrands work well to clear blockages
I look forward to each of your videos. Not only informational, but I am a pushover for classic British iron.
Must've missed the episode where Steve cleans the fuel tank.
Always fun with the Spyder. I’m surprised you could reuse the rubber gasket but I’ll bet replacement parts for this car are not something you can pick up a Pep Boys. 😂
More Innocenti episodes please
Definitely more Innocenti!
Would love to see more of this.
Awesome man. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy these little snippets. Don't often have time for a feature length affair.
Was waiting for the wire to break of while spinning via the drill😜
Wow there was a real solid mass in that pipe even with the wire in the drill you could see the wire twisting at first. With some persistence you got there in the end. That is what it's all about with old cars, just keep pushing until you get there. Thanks for sharing this Steve, all good stuff. 👍👍

I was worried the wire was going to break. Phew. That would have been a drag, although that piece of pipe could easily be fabricated.
yes, more!
Persistence is very much part of getting these old cars running, eh Steve?
oven cleaner works great on gummed up fuel lines allmost instant.
I'd like to see some more of Ferdinando's genius.
Awesome!!!
I love these cars!
Yes please on the innocenti… I have an MG Midget to restore and the innocenti is an MG Midget in a ball gown😱😂 I do like the fix it videos👍
great stuff thanks
Love these videos... this is why I subscribe
nice video
What about cleaning and even possibly coating the inside of the tank?
Ace
Was that a gold pan in the solvent washer?
wondering if carb or brake cleaner would cut that hard mass...like a LOT of it such that that pipe and filter could soak in it.
Thanks for the videos! Wouldnt a parts washer havf been an option for the clogged tube?

The tube was on the tank when it was in the washer. Nothing was going to break that stuff up unless it was done mechanically. I have not had luck in the ultra sonic cleaner with things like that either.

@@ThisWeekWithCars thanks for your answer, the ultra sonic was what i meant to say.
