Fixing stuck running boards on 2017 Ford Expedition

The motorized running boards on my 2017 Ford Expedition used to move freely. But over time, they started to act up - either getting stuck in the up or down position. Armed with a few cans of penetrating oil, we get them unstuck and working again!
When spraying - use WAY MORE than you think you need. Really soak the hinges. After spraying, let it sit. Then repeat. All total, this fix too me several hours as I would spray and wait. And then wait some more. Let the penetrating oil do its job!

Hey i have a 2015 ford expedition with power running boards and my passenger side running board is doing the same thing but my passenger side running board motor is making a grinding type noise any thoughts

The only thing I can think of is that the grinding may be rust/dirt in the hinges themselves? I believe a dirty hing was what caused mine to not work, but after lots of spraying, they eventually worked themselves free. Maybe try lubricating them and moving them up and down over and over?
1/2 ASS JOB MISSED THE TOP HINGS 3 sets of hinges ,You got to get under it to do it right.
