The only professional way to do this is to start with wet sanding 320ish grit and work down to 800-1000 before applying 2K clear. Then follow up with a 2000ish grit polish on the clear and apply other compound if necessary.

  • @Turboy65

@@MrCarGuy You'll find that if you wet sand to a much coarser grit level and then clearcoat the lenses, the clearcoat really has something to grab onto and lasts a LOT longer. Been there, done that. Sand to 2000, the clearcoat peels off in a year or two. Sand to 600, clearcoat lasts...five years and counting. Both ways, the lenses stay absolutely clear.

Totaled means fixing it at dealer rates would cost more then 70% of current market value of car, it has nothing to do with damage. I live in Poland and i often buy 'totaled' cars from USA, most are super easy and cheap to fix as american wage and car parts price is so absurdly high what's totaled in USA here is like $3k fix... Recently bought totaled Nissan murano, it needed new doors on driver side and new panel on front driver side, car literally didn't have any other DMG and it was totaled... It's absurd what your insurance companies mark as totaled.

That's what EVERYONE should bear in mind if they are ever tempted to buy a sub $15k Merc S Class, BMW 7 Series or similar that is 12+ years old. You'll spend 1/3 of that in servicing in parts/servicing over the next 2 years.
