It appears to be some type of polypropylene material. And yes it looks like it's a .5mm thick. The prescratches may be there to help the original material grab on. That's a brave thing man. Straight white paints also fade to a somewhat ivory color over time so picking a slightly off-white works better in my experience. Yup, lol, we got the squeaks. Looking good. Can't wait to see the finished piece.
