OMG! First, you are reminding me of several reasons I sold both of my GrainFathers and now use Anvil Foundries. Those high-density burners make scorching a common issue, and I still have no clue why they haven't gone to low-density burners yet. BrewZilla and Anvil use low-density burners to greatly reduce the possibility of scorching. I remember cleaning out the ball and spring every time and sometimes during a brew, as it would clog very easily. The pump and those seals are another reason I prefer the external pump, as that thing is a nightmare to take apart to clean, and I used to clean that pump every 2 or 3 brews, so you can imagine the work that had to be done just to take it apart. I never replaced the parts but had spares as I was always afraid I'd break something taking it apart so frequently. As for the hair, eww, and the earwigs must have just gotten in there while you had the system sitting as I assume you had to order the parts to fix the seals, so they probably only recently crawled in; otherwise, they would have been chopped up and boiled. I know you mentioned having a problem with the earwigs before, and I probably told you this before but put diatomaceous earth around your shed and even sprinkle it in the shed. You will never see another earwig again (You will need to retreat every now and again, especially during rainy seasons.) The stuff is safe for your dogs and other animals, but it will dry earwigs up when they touch it. Overall a great video, but I think it will help sell BrewZillas over GrainFathers in your neck of the woods. From the scorching to the nightmare of trying to remove the pump for cleaning. The BrewZilla's pump is built in, too, but it does look a lot easier to remove for cleaning.

Good video that reminds me I need to re-passivate my kettle this holiday.

Hi mate, being a tradie I’m a big believer in spare parts for my brewing gear, o-rings, springs, spare posts for kegs etc, they always come in handy when you know what hits the fan. I have the Grainfather S40, not a bad bit of gear, only gripe with mine is it struggles to get up to 100 degrees with a double batch in it.

Thanks for the video. Any tips on servicing the Grainfather fermenter valves?

Thanks David, I can't comment on the Grainfather fermenter as I don't own one. I wish I did have one but alas I do not.

That's ok, after a bit of searching I found this kzread.info/dash/bejne/kZakj7uCppCXj7w.html. I have just spent today following your example and fully stripping down my Grainfather boiler and replacing the screw fittings with the snap lock ones. Thanks again for your efforts.@@SimpleHomeBrew
