I should add, this cube was very dirty on the inside and I did thoroughly clean everything off camera after the repairs. Most of the time I leave out cleaning footage unless it's relevant to the fix being shown. I can definitely show more cleaning efforts (either within the repair content or more focused restoration-style vids) if there is enough interest. Let me know!

I found this channel trying to fix a broken PS3, but I subscribed because the videos are interesting and entertaining. Someone watching a video of you fixing a specific issue would likely appreciate concise information without irrelevant footage. On the other hand someone watching a general restoration video would probably enjoy the additional content.

@@sthawk01 Thank you for this feedback, glad to have you here!
Fantastic video! Loved that you blocked the exhaust fan with the cd case towards the end of the video lol.

Thanks! Haha it was just temporary so i could get the game case in the scene, but i probably could have picked a better spot now that you point that out!
I absolutely love your videos! Thanks for making my Sunday!

How is this channel not more popular

I assume because I do everything myself and don't make any real efforts on SEO or pleasing the algorithm. I might be able to grow the channel by accepting offers from the various service groups emailing me (wanting to be hired for SEO, making graphics/editing stand out more, etc.). I have no intention to do that, and although I do tend to ask for engagement (hopefully in a non-annoying way), ultimately I make these videos as a fun hobby--not to become super popular or turn it into a job. If someone else started making graphics or editing videos for me it wouldn't truly feel like it was mine anymore, and that equals less fun, ya know? If I'm having fun and other people can enjoy it too, then that's a win-win, so thanks for watching and this comment--cheers!
The bridge the pins trick worked! Thanks for the video

Sure thing! I just use my phone (galaxy s21+) and film in 60fps on a tripod with a ring light. I have 2 panel led lights aimed at an angle behind the subject as well. I would like to have an overhead mount so the tripod isn’t getting in the way when I'm working but haven't figured out a good option yet. On some videos i use a logitech webcam if I'm going to be in the scene so i can see what it looks like on my monitor and film concurrently with my phone; my phone quality is much better so I'm thinking about upgrading to a better web cam or real camcorder with a capture card at some point. I use OBS to capture webcam and monitor footage when needed and I edit everything using Davinci Resolve (used to use Shotcut which is also pretty decent). The repair becomes more than double effort when you're having to worry about getting good footage so keep that in mind, also editing the video is almost always more labor than the repair itself!

Love the vid! What size is the nut to open the GameCube?
It's becoming more common for the caps to go bad on these. Surprised this wasn't an issue. Of course the open button is notorious for getting stuck. Just like the Reset button on N64. It helps to put a little bit of oil/grease on it to keep it lubed and happy. Just like my.....nevermind.

😂 yeah the way the latch pushes the button back up is prone to binding by design so doesn't take much for it to get stuck
The game is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

With the button swap and cleaning it later off camera it is in very decent shape! The last sad thing is the jewel being worn to a matte finish but I plan to buff that out later as well.
Con vinagre quitabas la corrosión tanto del cable como del puerto sin tener que desbastar.

Might be a bad motherboard or power supply
I never knew the GameCube had an interal battery. Ive had my GameCube since Christmas 2003 and it has gone long periods without being used but even today 20 years later if i want to play Mario Kart Double Dash it fires right up no problem

Yep the original batteries are still just fine on a lot of these. I think this one being discharged was related to the pin corrosion on the flex cable--hard to say
