I Bought A Broken Nintendo GameCube On eBay...Can We Fix It?
Ойындар
Today I wanted to take some time to check out a Nintendo GameCube I ordered on eBay that was as is. The description says it was not reading games and what sounded like an easy fix turned into a bit more work since it turned out to have significant water damage inside. Can we fix it?

You should do a series of this called “Pimp My Console.” Just get these broken systems and pimp them out

I should have never sold my gamecube! I should of never sold my GBA, or my genesis snes and playstation 1.... I should of never sold any of the games I had for them either... I hate being poor and crippled and needing money.

Pimp them? No, keep them fixed and original.
Jeez, did the previous owner use that GC as a flotation device, in a pool full of pepsi? I never understand how users let their game systems/PC's get to this level of misuse

@nuwavghost Exactly. I know people like to deny that Nintendo consoles are for kids or are a "kiddie console" but the fact of the matter is plenty of kids owed them and used and abused the heck out of them. Same thing with literally any of their other Home consoles and or Portables. ( though I must say if you're getting a ten-year-old a switch you got too much disposable income, yeesh!)

It's always good to know that these old Nintendo work horses can still be used for decades to come. It's always comforting to know that these things can be fixed rather easily and cheaply and continue to work for a long time to come.

I love it when you open up consoles! It’s very interesting to see how you fix it and I appreciate the explanation of all the important parts. I haven’t had to fix any of my consoles yet, but if I do, I’ll definitely refer to these videos. Also, love the F-Zero X music!

Man I really have a soft spot for the Game Cube. I loved that system and had great memories playing games with my family and relatives on it. Super Smash melee, super monkey ball and the wrestling games were a blast to play.

itws a damn shame it was restricted by its 1.5gb disk capacity, because it never got certain games due to size issues, even though it was in the middle in terms of power and capability

NonsensicalVids yeah to me it was the disk capacity that caused some third party games to be missing some certain features and the controller, it’s amazing and very comfy but the problem was not having more buttons (R3,L3,L1). It had awesome exclusives though!

Gamecube was actually more powerful than the PS2, with the xbox being the most powerful for that gen. Didnt own a Gamcube till later ( had the PS2 early on) but still, my friends and I always played Melee, Double Dash, Viewtful Joe, Res4, Wind Waker/TP and of course Super Monkey ball as well:)
@khaledalhosani1409
3 жыл бұрын
SirReznor yes it was more powerful! I remember trying Batman Vengeance (one of my first game cube purchases) on Game Cube and then seeing it on my friends PS2 and it looked better and somehow smoother (If I recall correctly ) on gamecube. However, some titles like need for speed, Def Jam FFNY had some features cut due to the disk size, sometimes it’s audio files, others textures or details. It’s amazing how Nintendo was able to squeeze every ounce of the console power and disk size. :D
"Some Corrosion"
You can leave the metal RF shielding out usually, it's only in there to keep the FCC happy. And it ain't like the GameCube has any actual RF-emitting components.

Love this type of stuff! Because of your videos I started to actually tinker, clean, learn and fix old video game stuff that I had. Now I'm hooked into doing this stuff.

Also, at time of this comment, this video had 587 👍 and 5 👎... why the hate. This is nothing but a quality video by this man and highly educational!

Love these types of videos, between you and a few others I’ve learned loads of great stuff about my favourite consoles
you have to respect people that takes the time to properly wrapped up something that they're sending off to someone who bought it from them especially when that item isn't working they still take the time
Since you said it, Yes! I really enjoy and love the restore Videos, I always learn something watching them and they are fun to watch. keep ur good work up! much love
I’m always in awe of people who are able to do things like this. That’s why I enjoy these videos because it’s borderline sorcery! Plus it had GameCube in the title, there was no way I wasn’t going to watch it
This is awesome! You should do more of this refurbished stuff! Super interesting
Nice! These gamecube related videos are my favorites. Especially when getting the games in the mail!
Awesome restore, brother!! I definitely check out all your videos and find cool tips and tricks all the time. Keep 'em coming!!

Awesome video, that final look is AWESOME!! Very impressive!
Used GameCube for sale. “Light” water damage. Doesn’t read discs. Well, when you flood the disc motor... Great video!
Thanks for keeping the music going during the put back together phase with the final look. I didn't want the music to stop lol. I miss my GameCube and games, I wish I still had mine :(
I appreciate your repair videos, vastly helpful to the community
I love your restoration videos! So far this year I've restored an original Xbox and a Game Boy Color. Thank you for the inspiration!
I like the stuff you do with consoles, changing shells, fixing them, doing custom work
Love all your Gamecube content. Goodluck with your GC collection!

Really good Job Jon(SW). Man that GC was beat up badly with that Water Damage. That Starlight Gold Case is looking fantastic, I had the Purple one back when, which was pretty funky and sweet.

Definitely, definitely enjoyed this type of video. I would love it if you did these more often. I mean even if you don’t do them to keep them, you could always just sell them again on eBay and get your money back. It’s a win-win. I love these techie videos.
I watch newswave every morning and really enjoy your weekend content!
I love the little sound when it boots up a game, i remember my GC becoming faulty and i'd just wait to hear that sound which confirms it has read the game correctly. Sometimes it'd take upwards of 15 minutes to get it running lol
Thanks for all the fix it videos you make. Because of them I’m able to repair. From someone who has no knowledge what so at all.Mostly recent drift issue for my friends switches.
I love Spawnwave's projects and console tear downs.
Nice F-Zero X tracks in vid and outro, X and GX are my favorite 64 and GC games. Masterpieces. Great job on the restoration.
Totally awesome GameCube repair video. I really like these types of videos. I hope to see more
I like watching these restoration Videos. Been watching quite a few of them lately as this is something i would like to do.

I love these videos! I always want to do it myself but get scared of needing to micro solder
I'd love to see more videos like this Also, I've been trying to get a gamecube since I only had the ps2 when I was a kid, but every guy I call asking for the cube, it's been sold a few hours or days before my call, it's pretty annoying since those has been really good prices
Love your vids man, makes my day!

I bought myself a GameCube for 23$ 2 years ago and it works flawlessly.
I had a rusted GameCube that I found at a flea market. I got it and a couple games for 20 bucks not realizing there was rust pouring out of the ports on the bottom. Got home and it still worked perfectly. I was very surprised 😂
Love these types of videos!

Quality content right here. Wish I was able to fix my old ps2 like this.
Never cease to amaze me, great video!

I always enjoy restoration videos!
Amazing videos man. Love to see the passion and knowledge shine through. Question, my GameCube has never been professionally cleaned but is still looking and running like a top. Should I keep on keeping on or look into getting it cleaned? I love this thing and play it monthly, I just wonder how much more it has in it. I can visibly see dust and grim on the fan. I wonder what 20+ years of use has done to it?
Imagine knowing this was yours and seeing this video, your poor Gamecube getting beautifully resurrected
The end result looks amazing.
Your starlight GameCube build turned out Great! 👍
I have been working on pre-PS3, X360 gaming consoles for about 10 years now. One thing that continues to amaze me is how durable these things are! Ive received consoles that I was told had been stored in less than idea conditions, open to the elements storage sheds, wet, moldy basements, attics with no venelation, etc. Unless they were literally standing in water or crushed by something heavy most still worked! And those that didnt worked great after a good cleaning or minor part replacement.
They must of dropped this one in the pool😆, great video btw my guy!✊🏼
Love these type of video
