Be careful, the oil filter on these models is not the same as Impreza's - part number 15208AA024. It's slightly different. A colleague in a Subaru parts dept assumed it was without checking and supplied the wrong filter. the tech didn't check either. I happened to out of curiosity and immediately informed the tech and supplied the right filter. Might've led to extensive engine damage.

IIRC, you're supposed to be able to roll those windows down when it's raining and not get rain in the car. You're also supposed to be able to open them while you're driving and not get wet inside and also not be too loud. Seem to remember reading all of that in Car and Driver back in the day.

I love this car. Glad it's back.
Turned out very well!
I know this is coming in really late, but as a former SVX owner, I can tell you that a factory radio incorporates the security system. Your best bet is to put a factory radio (head unit). There should also be a genuine mohagany grain matching plastic panel that covers it, just like the the cover over the ash tray.
Feel your pain on window regulators. These old Jeep Grand Wagoneer regulators use plastic tracks to lift the window. I had to fix one 3 times in a month. Glad to see the 90’s Subaru used the metal lifter vs plastic. Best of luck with the channel going forward!

Someone is going to get a nice, classic Subaru that now is in pretty good condition. Drove one of these a friend owned in college, it drove really nicely.
Keep em coming JR
Seeing your Subaru takes me back to when I had my '88 3 door Coupe with a 5 speed. It was like having my Jeep back from the army when I drove for my Lt. Luckily I got along great with the mechanics where I never opened the hood or put a drop of gas or water in it. People would be waiting in line to sign out their vehicles, they'd see me, throw me the keys and I'd be on my way, lol. I cheated when I got my stereo for my '07 Galant. I changed it because one of the rear speakers were rattling of which I found a plastic connector lying on the speaker I couldn't find when I had the top of the speaker off. I got my JVC stereo w/speakers from Crutchfield and they, for $20 wired up a connector so I could just plug it in. I had to do a little fabricating but so much better than factory and for only $200. I got the 2 way rear speakers which Crutchfield said wouldn't fit but just had to take my Dremel and shave off some plastic off the inside of the speaker cover and fit nicely. Thanks for sharing. I bought that '88 Subaru with 100,000 miles and sent it to the junk yard after 240,000 miles because the body had rotted out. I knew it was bad and was driving carefully until one day the rear of the car just sank, luckily at only 30mph and I heard a whirring noise behind me and when I looked back I could see the rear tire. Luckily I had been working on a '78 Nova to take its place. Had to do some bicycling for a week to get rides to work before I could register it.

I love those cars, sad they r so rare!!! Love your videos
It was info searches regarding SVX repair that brought me to JR's (& even Hoovie's) channels. I'll be sad when his SVX is gone. I was hoping to see someone else restoring/up keeping their SVX as try to do the same to my 97 SVX. (Owners are a very small, ever shrinking family.) I was also nice to see the relatively forgotten SVX get some "airtime", so to speak. Still, the man has to eat so I understand the parting of ways. The channel has been great & I look forward to what comes next on WatchJRGo.
It's an annoying job sometimes, working inside car doors, but that SVX didn't look half bad. I got an old Volvo 240, it's not too bad, but had to change the window motor in a Mercedes E-class from the late 90s early 00s, not as much fun, had to youtube how to do it, on an early 00s VW New Beetle, I had to google where the screws were, as they hid them really well. And not to sound too cheesy... but thank you for your videos, I enjoy watching you work on old cars, sometimes it's more fun seeing an old more normal car get saved, over the supercar stuff, and it is somewhat inspirational to us normal folks with normal cars, to work on our own stuff. I've gone from the guy whining at my friends to help me fix my car, to becoming the guy that fixes my own car, and one of those that help the helpless whiner. :P Even done electrical stuff on my Volvo, cut the body to remove rust and weld in new bits, things I'd never imagine doing on my own before, and this channel, along with a couple others, is part of the reason I am doing it. So... thank you, and keep up the good work, hope that you'll manage to stay afloat with your videos now that you've become a full-time KZreadr. -Tommy, a random Norwegian viking.
