Man you've been buying hardware for your viewers on this series? And you're doing this for free? Greg you are so awesome man. Guys I know it's a business for him but come on he doesn't have to fix strangers pcs and give them upgrades when he can. Yes he makes money on it but that doesn't matter. In my eyes he's doing a great thing for his community.

He's awesome but the financial hit i dont think is a real thing. He does it free and can replace hardware because he gets the money back from making a video, running ads and getting 10s-100s of thousands of views. Its essentially like video content finds him as opposed to having to take time to come up with ideas everyday like some creators. I'm not bashing it just stating the facts.

This is hands down my favorite series over anything, ever. I’m talking I could spend hours watching all of these episodes except I have already binged all of them so I thank God he continues to come through for us! I got into PC gaming about 6 or so months ago. I got tired of limited FOV and performance and it took me a while, but I saved up and built my own PC with comfortable knowledge on what I was getting for my value, future proofing, and really was not nervous to put it together at all. All my learning would have never been possible without your channel my friend! Thanks for helping me find a new passion! I wish to do what you do in the future.. I just don’t know where I would start! You’re awesome man. I fully appreciate what you do for the community

If he feels he got ripped off he can call his bank and tell them to do a reverse on the payment, the seller might get ticked off and He could then come and fetch his garbage and learn a valuable lesson. There's a time limit on payments for shifty sellers and Ebay and most sites will back the buyer especially when a seller blocks them after registering a legit complaint. Great video!

Typically you pay with cash from Facebook marketplace. There are no online methods of payment, unless the seller agrees to an electronic form of payment like PayPal or Interac E-Transfer (if that even exists in the USA.)
@TheSpotify95

That would be a good idea if paid with card or PayPal etc. However paying via Bank Transfer or Cash will likely result in not being successful in getting your money back. So someone put a half-defective CPU and an overheating GPU into a gaming rig... not great!
Thanks Greg ! This video comes in the right time for me. I had an issue with my graphic card (Rx480). Temperatures going up to 95C with fans at 100%. Yesterday i re-pasted the gpu correctly and just ran the Furmark test for 20 minutes. Looks like i did a good job following your instructions. Now temperature goes to 74C Max with fans at 56%. I love all your content but I especially love these videos; I feel like I've learned SO MUCH about PC troubleshooting just from watching you. I know how frustrating it is to have a problem and have genuinely no idea of how to fix it, so I thank you for the service you perform here as well as the hours and hours of entertainment you provide. Already looking forward to the next one (hopefully you won't have to replace another Ryzen CPU)!
Greg, always a joy to watch these type of vids- best content style of any!
Reminds me of S2E18 where the only problem with the GPU was the factory thermal paste not covering all the die, missing the lower 1/5 of it, and just repasting fixed the problem.

Nice to see another rig saved, your fix or flop videos have actually saved my own pc this week when my motherboard simply stopped working. I tried everything I could but it would not power on, after a little research it seemed the motherboard in question ( gigabyte ab350m gaming) has a bricking issue. I knew it wasn't ram or CPU as fans didn't even spin and I was able to test PSU on a second system. After purchasing a new board my system is back up and running, all I did with the old mb when it was last used it shut it down via the menu and left for a few days. It's a shame I couldn't send you the board to do some digging but I'm based in UK, anyway looking forward to your next video 👍👍
Amazing job Greg! I've learned so much from your videos that I've even learned to troubleshoot my own hardware problems! Truly amazing content, keep up the good work! ❤

There's always that risk on the marketplace but there's always the best deals to be had there. I bought my GTX 1060 6GB for £100 about 5 years ago as a quick replacement after my GTX 970 died on me and that badboy is still going strong today but I am now looking to upgrade and the marketplace again has some real good offers with RTX 3070's going for £240-£250... How can I say no to those? Lol

My Ryzen 3900x has that same boot loop issue. I RMA'd it and AMD sent me an email today saying a replacement is on its way. I'm really curious to know what is happening to these Ryzen cpu's to cause this issue.
@richardbarnshaw5795

I've noticed it also only seems to be a trend with Ryzen 9s as well, so maybe something specific to Ryzen 9s is the culprit.
I think with a few giveaways of surplus to patreon members and maybe some extra videos, it would be definitely at least be worth considering. I am surprised you didn't test the Ryzen chip with another temporary setup to see if the dual channel still failed like you usually would, but at least you narrowed down the problem. I am glad to see you feeling better enough to post another fix or flop, and keep up the good work.
really giving back to the community, love this
Hello! Long-time viewer and big fan of your channel, here. For AMD graphics drivers, there are two alternative ways to get GPU drivers and settings off of the PC: - The "AMD Cleanup Utility" is the standalone version - A built-in version of the Cleanup Utility runs if you start the GPU driver installation and select "Factory Reset" (and for good measure, also uncheck "Keep Settings"). DDU doesn't always stay up to date with driver changes, and it's been especially wonky with AMD drivers in recent years. Keep on doing the good work!
Have you tried disabling some of the cores on the Ryzen 9? That could possibly fix the bootloop issues. I had a very similar problem on my R5 1600 a while back and I disabled one of the cores, and it worked fine. It was a good solution to be able to use my computer until I could purchase a new chip. Loved the video! This series is always so interesting, and brings many issues I would never have thought of to light!

I feel like this the second time you've found a failed mem controller or at least one of the channels on a Ryzen CPU. This time was Zen3 and I *think* last time was a 3000 series Zen2. I find it hard to believe these croak on their own and wonder if it's excessive heat or XMP profiles that push the controller too hard? Anyway, great job helping that guy. I don't like second hand components and especially complete systems unless they can be demonstrated functioning without issue. Good stuff Mr. Salazar! 💪👍

Probably auto voltage on motherboards pushing way too much voltage into the memory controller. Or in this case, since the cooler was clearly mounted loosely, maybe only one memory channel died a heat death (unlikely).

With the 5900x, You should make a video delidding it because it could be that there is no contact between the dye and the IHS, causing it to overheat then shutdown.
I wonder if the tiny noctua cooler with a loose mount killed the memory controller? The 5800X runs pretty hot even with a 360mm AIO unless you undervolt it. If not it was most likely still throttling like hell while under load.

@louiesatterwhite3885

@@j.p.h.8126 you don't lose much performance, especially if you have a poor cooling solution. I have a 5800x on a 240mm radiator, pbo on it boosts to 83°C under heavy load, while under the same load I have 53°C with a 3% performance loss, measured by cinebench r23. I am going to upgrade to a 360mm arctic liquid freezer ii aio with 6 noctua nf a12x25 fans in push+pull, but I've been away from my pc for a few months. Very little paste is required to fill those microscopic gaps between metal and. It usually heats up and squished out to cover most of the die ok. Problem is if the mounting pressure isn’t even and one edge is lifted up slightly you will get that blank spot and like observed in this video it takes very little time for heat to sky rocket on these super high performance parts. Excellent video I love how educational this stuff can be to experienced and inexperienced pc builders.

Even though the culprit of the card is improper thermal paste, I think you also need to check if it has custom vbios especially if it is a used graphics card that might once used for mining.
i think your the first person to explain more about thermal paste then it cools. can not recall anyone talking about it being a filler all i heard was it cooled down the chip. through i have run a chip for years without any paste back with windows xp. no major heat issues with that system so it go away without any.
Learned a lot, great video and Godspeed.
