I am refurbishing an old Ford Tractor. I got the engine running great, but the clutch will not disengage. I try several ways to fix it.

Wow! I have to give you a lot of credit. You drilled an inspection hole in your tractor! LOL. I don't know if I could have done that. But, you do what you have to do to get er done. I had to split an older model Ford tractor not too long ago because in all their ingenuity, Ford placed a freeze plug in the rear of the block and you could not get to it without the split. So now I've got a JD 790 with a stuck clutch plate. I have worries that I bought a tractor that had been partially submerged in salt water after a hurricane down here in Florida. Hence, a stuck clutch.

Nice tips and tricks. Too bad you have to the whole monty with that transmission. Good luck with this project Lou!

Just want to thank you for your ideas. I have a Shenniu SN254 which had a stuck clutch after sitting for over 6 months. I used your idea of pouring in 1 gallon of PB blaster. After letting it soak for a day, still no go. I hooked up the tractor to a tree and try to break the clutch in low range, first gear, still no go. When I finally decided to give up and drive the tractor to a spot where I take off the front end loader, it finally broke free. I drained the PB Blaster and looks like it's working fine. Thanks again, I dreaded having to break apart the tractor...

That’s great! Keep a c clamp on the clutch pedal if its going to sit a long time again.

Not in this case. Fingers were rusted in place and bent. Had to replace clutch. But, yes, good idea!

Yeah, not happy about having to split the tractor, but it won’t be too bad.
