Hey Woby when I was seeing you recut the glued skateboards to thinner wood planks, they look like a cool tye dye design for a skateboard board. Maybe make one? Thanks!

Having followed this journey on IG, I can't imagine how relieved you are to have it done. All those Learning Opportunities (tm) you experienced are entirely relatable. You clearly have way more patience than me. Now that it's all said and done, the bike looks awesome. Even if you don't ride it, it's still a magnificent piece of art for the collection. Looking forward to what comes next! Thanks for sharing!

ive been planning on building a bike frame from plywood, and ive watched all the videos i could find. but this, this is next level. its stunning, its lovely, and i love it. i also have to add that there are not enough makers on youtube sponsored by and advertising for PPE products, and im super stoked you did. absolutely fantastic video my friend.

I 100% agree with your complete statement here. PPE is very very important, more important than the project itself, if you really think about it. Thanks for bringing attention to this issue, you rock 🤘🤘

While this is pretty it's not the best approach - if you're laminating a wooden frame you really want to work with individual veneers so you can orientate each layer in the optimal direction, and bend them where this gives greater strength/reduced bulk. This adds difficulty in design and construction - you'll need a system of formers and clamps that's more complex than you need with only flat pieces,.

Even though I will never work with skateboards, being a Quilter, I have fun watching this. We both use smaller and smaller materials to add back together to make something great. I make rag quilts out old jeans and flannel sheets. Thanks for sharing this video! Have a great day everyone!

Nice build! I made some wooden bikes too but using different design constructions. Working with wood as material for a bicycle frame is a bit tricky since is not so stable as metals or composites. On your next frame for light up, you can carve some internal pockets on the tubes e reinforce it with 1 or layer of #200 glass fiber to avoid delamination on plywood layers. Your shop is very nice!

Awesome film. Superb editing and story telling. Bike is a work of art. Priceless. There should be a name for this process. Painting has terms like "pointillism" and "drip technique." This process needs a name to honor the effort required. Just thinking out loud. Mahalo for sharing! : )

Amazing. A lot people don't understand wood bikes but they must be the most comfortable bike you will ever ride, all bumps are absorbed by the frame instead of travelling to the rider. Its like a full suspension bike but your not loosing power with each pedal rotation. Gonna check out the masks out, I always end up removing mine instead of my goggle as having something in my eye was no fun. Luckily it was alloy and not iron or it would of rusted my eyeball. The optometrist said they use a small grinder to remove the rust. I didn't believe him but you can actually watch videos of the operation on KZread. Great content thanks for sharing.

I've had bits of steel removed from my eyeball (twice, so I didn't learn the first time, although I was using PPE both times). The tool they use is basically a small burr in a Dremel - when it's chewing your eyeball everything goes wobbly as it moves around. :-)
