Dang wish I'd checked this when I was camping this past weekend. Our replacement, new Dometic failed after just one season. We were told it needed to be replaced but that's kinda hard to believe.

After watching your video, I found that the wire going to Thermal protector had heated due to a lose connection and had lost connection. I was able to repair it with a couple of wire nuts and a short piece of wire, Thanks!!!

Thanks for this video. After watching this video, I just realize that I don't hear that AC humming noise and that subtle compression sound. All I hear is a very loud fan noise. It's either high or low. It is one thing on my RV that I wished it was more reliable. It does cool after a very long time after turning it on, but no where near what I would consider "cool" But information is very useful though, thanks for sharing.

Which overload switch did you use? I see some for $9-$10 and all the dometics are like $50. Are they interchangeable or does it have to be the dometic one? Thanks

The main thing is to match the parameters of your existing overload protector. Either buy same exact model number, or look up the specs and make sure to buy correct replacement. I bought 2pcs. of Klixon brand for 1/3 of Dometic price, & it’s been working well for about a year now (about 5 camping trips).

No, electrical parameters have to be exact match with the original.

😅That’s what I got a feeling off too… That thing is so loud inside the camper, you gotta choose between cold air or a headache in the morning. Camper was used only 3 times when AC broke. Now Im carrying spare parts with me every time…

It would still cause a circuit breaker---somewhere--- to switch off! Whales, are rumored to have circuit breakers. They'd die. So its best to put in a gun range, and use a M34 mini gun on it until its nothing. :D

Unfortunately, often these systems are filled & sealed at the factory without a service port (how convenient huh!? $$$). Only way is to tap into the low line and add a refrigerant port, where permitted by law (yes, how convenient for manufacturers…🤑💰)

@@RV-time wtf, this sounds too stressful, I’m not trying to replace a part that doesn’t need to be fixed, the simplistic thing to start and do would be the refrigerant. I’m commenting here because I read someone replaced that specific part you did and still nothing. I believe that it’s the refrigerant
