    Hey folks, I’m back and happy to bring you the video you voted on this weekend. My QS experience has been a dream since making several key adjustments and watching my chain maintenance. What tension value is your chain set to? I’ve experienced the best result with a much looser chain than what the bike came set to. Check out this video to check/reset your chain tension: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5hhsrKkltiYZto.htmlsi=GDWkkDjsgWYzGItY.

    Welcome back! While you were off sick, I burst a cushion between my lowest two vertebra, severely damaging the nerves to my legs... Had a big back operation - had to learn to get up, and trying to move around... now slowly walking with a cane. Two years to "sort of healing" waiting for me....

    Oh shit, I’m so sorry to hear that. I can only imagine the journey you’ve been on to heal that. I wish you the best brother, that PT only does so much I know but don’t be discouraged. I saw your video of the KTM walker and laughed so hard, it is a blessing to be able to turn a hard situation into something you can laugh about. I wish you the best recovery! Thanks so much for sharing and supporting me on my journey as well!

    Happy to hear you have recovered from you injury and looking forward to your videos!!! My problem is with adjusting the clutch. I'll adjust the clutch for proper free play. Even trying different amount of free play. I then go out riding and then about 30 minutes in to the ride, I have difficulty with shifting? In particular getting to neutral and 1st gear at a stop. In order to get to first gear or neutral from a stop; I have to open the throttle some? After opening the throttle while holding in to clutch, I can then shift to neutral or first. Chain tension proper and chain is clean. And nothing loosened from my free play adjustment. One thing I will say about this bike....compared to other bikes owner's manual...it is specific on where to check chain tension. Some owner's manual for other bikes (like my KTM 1190 Adventure R) it doesn't tell one the location specifically to check the tension. As well as some other head-scratchers. A trick to help cut down on the build-up on the chain slider and chain guard....a light coat of WD-40 to lessen the sticking of the build-up. A very light coat. Like in spray a little on, then wipe it in. Even spray a rag, then wipe it on for less mess. It won't prevent it, just lessen.

    Man… the clutch is no easy job. Honestly, I wouldn’t even know where to start with recommendations. Have you brought it to your AD for troubleshooting? I’d really love to know the root of the issue so I can share it/fix it if it ever comes up. I really appreciate the kind words! I am so surprised and humbled to have the support I do, this latest video is by far the best performing in the shortest amount of time. Thank you for the support!

    i have a 2023 model and my quickshifter going up gears sometimes gives a little kick as it changes but thats mainly down to me only on partial throttle going through town or something, my downshifts are so smooth regardless of what i do a little tip i found to finding the correct tension is to use a 5mm allen key and place it under the swingarm, if the chain just touches the allen key, you're good to go.

  • @AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle

    @AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle

    Yeah! The Allen key trick works very well thanks for sharing. Yeah, my hiccups tend to happen under low to mid throttle. If I’m just cruising around I typically just use my clutch like a normal person. I do love to find an excuse to let that QS do its thing now that I’ve nailed my settings though. It’s way to damn easy to go felony speeds on bikes lol.

    Hope your recovery continues well, in every way including financial. Injuries suck. On the 890 QS note: my 890 ADV R had the smoothest KTM QS I’ve experienced, until about 1200 miles, when it became terrible. Bike is in the shop for diagnosis though they probably aren’t going to get to it until my appt in November. Feels like the ignition cut isn’t properly timed, to me.

    That’s very interesting, I’ve always heard it get smoother as I assume the chain loosens and the bike breaks in. Please let us know if they find any glaring issue, amassing knowledge here is what the channels all about. Also, I greatly appreciate the kind words and support. I am so excited to get back to what I love!

    @@AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle Thanks for your reply. More details. My quick shifter was perfect, then abruptly became harsh on a ride. Discovered my shift linkage was loose after that ride. Hasn’t returned to normal function since then, including after evaluation and supposedly “recalibration” at the shop. Feels like some sort of loss of calibration to me. We’ll see what my dealer thinks when they get a chance to look at it. I’ll shift with the clutch until then. I can’t sacrifice Amy more of the riding season. Haha. All the best.

    Ahhh, yeah the chain guard gets pretty filthy too. That guide of the bottom will really jack up the chain from the center if oil and debris are left in it. Yeah… I hear that from most folks and they run into quick shift trouble eventually because of it. My more slack setting is much much smoother. Safe riding brother!

    Mine is a 2020 also! I bet the settings vary bike by bike honestly. The relationship between the chain tension, transmission, tolerance stack in the sensor/arm, and of course situational use all make for a pain in the ass equation lol. It’s great to see you back on the channel and on the Nordschleife!

    My QS works fine when shifting up, but I do t think it’s blipping the throttle when I down shift. If I barely press it down I can feel it trying to do something with the throttle, but if I commit to a shift it just feels like I’m cramming it down into the gear. Bike only has 1000 miles on it.

  • @AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle

    @AlejandrosEngineeredLifestyle

    Ай бұрын

    Really… QS works by turning off the throttle and engaging the shift momentarily whilst there’s no load as to not shear the transmission. With that low of miles it might be worth taking it to the AD to see if they’ve not installed it right. Are you quick shifting in high rpm or or in the mid/lower end? My mid end shifts didn’t get smooth until I changed the chain tension.

    Its somewhat comical to me ive been riding street for 22years. My 890r is the first bike ive owned that has a quick shifter and i constantly forget about it and just use the clutch. I personally just stuck in my ways that ill continue to do it.

    I have to admit, I do the same some rides when I’m just cruising around. It’s much smoother under medium throttle more consistently. When the time comes to burn some petrol though there’s nothing like the high RPM quickshifts, especially the kickdowns. The burbles are better than drug haha.

  • @drbigmix7752
    @drbigmix77529 ай бұрын

    My QS gave me a huge tank slapper when shifting up at full throttle at the end of 4th gear when going in a straight line. Then I suspect the steering damper saved my ass. So, from what I can tell, the bike is simultaneously trying to kill you and save you at the same time!

    The quickshifter seems to be hit or miss with some bikes shifting fine and like my bike it is not consistent between gears or smooth. I run my chain on the looser side, like all my KTMs - does not make my bike shift better and I've adjusted the shift linkage numerous times to no avail. I got tired and annoyed and turned quickshifter off. By the way - could not help but notice the kink in your chain - often the rivet link is too tight or your chain is old.

  • @cfvgd
    @cfvgd9 ай бұрын

    quickshifter is just cutting ignition when you press your gear leaver. its not suppose to work on lower rpm. i dont get why people still try to use it at low rpm. i cant imagine that being good for the engine.
