I ordered one of these for my 02 Silverado because of your channel. Thank you! Doing an entire front end rebuild at 200k miles. Thought it would be good to start from the box and work down from there. I heard redhead isn't what they used to be. Please elaborate on your flush procedure. 😝🤣

Guess everything comes apart easy when you take care of your truck. I mangled my old box, pitman arm, and snapped a mounting bolt when I replaced the box on that shitty 2nd gen I had haha.

Great educational video. When did you switch to "Soda" for your congratulatory pause. LOL. Keep em coming. Can't wait to see what's going on with the Buggy.

People are a little too sensitive about the fluid that I used to drink. Now I switched to soda and its smooth cruising. Buggy videos coming soon!

Would you reccomend the blue top box? I have to replace the one in my 2007 1500 Classic.

I have about 15K miles on this box. So far so good, so I would recommend them.

easy. Any tips for ensuring proper alignment when swapping boxes?

The steering shaft only fits 2 ways so your wheel will either be 180* out or correct. The box is shipped in the straight ahead position and its pretty tight. You would have to be getting really rough with it on install to kick the pitman arm out of line. Thanks for the comment!

@@spankranchgarage good to know! Never worked on a vehicle with a steering box. Now I know when that eventually happens! Keep it coming!

Wait a minute…..that was waaaaay to smooth, not a single busted knuckle, not a single cuss word, I didn’t even see a tool go flying across the yard. What’s going on here? The stars must have been aligned just right that day because I’ve never experienced such a smooth part swap! I didn’t even see a single bolt strip! Lol.

    Bleed procedure for this repair???

  • @spankranchgarage

Bleeding is easy I just turn the truck lock to lock several times without engine running. Then once running you might hear some pump whine but keep an eye on level and it will go away. As for flushing I haven’t found a great way. I looped the steering box lines and filled/drained the system several times. Running engine and pumping brakes each time. I repeated until it was very clean. Wish I had a better method but it worked

Have you ever changed the rear main seal? Mine has been leaking for a decade. The one leak I have never fixed.

Not on this particular truck. Rear main seal leaks don’t seem to be common on the duramax diesel but on the 5.3 and 6.0 gas motors it is more common. There is also a gasket on the side rear of the block that is commonly misdiagnosed as a rear main leak
