This video might be an oldie but it's a goodie. I'm a 70-year-old granny and used it to help me replace the water pump on my Spotbot Pet. Being on a fixed income, this saved me $$$. Thank you Mike!

Well it turns out you saved me not only $129 for a new machine, but even $15 for a new pump! It was blocked, and I cleaned it out exactly as you recommended, reassembled, and tested perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to do this video.

Fantastic video! My Bot was a much older version though, so when I attempted to separate the pump from the y connector, the y connector broke into a few pieces. Sadly Bot is no more, but I learned a valuable lesson: rinse the hoses after EVERY use, even if it's 3am.

Your video saved me SO much grief! Thank you!!!! There are so many negative reviews on amazon for this product failing and it is my 2nd spotbot and after only its 2nd use had failed me again. I had left the unused cleaning solution in it from its previous use 8 weeks ago and it gunked-up the hose nozzle so it was just dripping. I cleaned the filter sponge pad like you said and it is fixed!

I agree with Slippin'Jimmy's comment about the tube inside the pump. Carefully remove the black o-ring inside the end, let some innards come out, then work with water and a toothpick or whatever to make the remaining inside parts wiggle / slide. Then put the innards back in and the o-ring and proceed as in the video. One additional comment: I had removed the hose from its locked-in-place button, and the machine wouldn't turn back on for non-hose use until I had put the hose back and latched it with its button. Then it turned on ok. The cleaned-out pump worked well after about 30 seconds of run time to loosen up other sticky spots further downstream, I suppose. Since I don't use the machine very often anymore, I'm going to flush it with plain water when I'm done, and store the mixed solution in a separate jar. Thanks, Mike M, for your excellent video!

What does one do if the button on the cap to the solution reservoir does not depress?

Thanks for posting this! Got my machine apart and fixed in just a few minutes thanks to this video! BTW, I used a bamboo skewer inside that pump to loosen up the little piston inside while running hot water over it.

THANKS ! You helped me big time. I found the spring loaded parts inside the plastic pump valve had rusted. Once i got the pump disassembled, a light tap on the plastic valve dislodged the pieces which were then easy to clean up with fine gray scotchbrite. Back in business and it only took about 15 minutes to fix.

Thank you for this video! Our valve unit inside the the motor had a two-spring-&-ring assembly, similar to a ball point pen. We were able to push the inner plastic piece back and forth, and eventually run hot water through. Our Spot Bot Pet works again!!!!

It was just the first step- making sure there I cleared out the gunk on the top solution filter. Very easy. Yay! Following your excellent video, I just fixed my SpotBot...and mine was the simple fix: on the solution container side, I removed the small filter and cleared it of gunk, removed the solution container cap and cleaned it, removed the filter from the dirty tank and cleaned it. That's it! Thanks for making this video

Thanks for the video. I have an older SpotBot, so the innards and screws are different, but the essence is the same. I was able to recessitate a very old SpotBot that we were about to throw out. We hadn't used it in years, thinking it was us. Turns out the pump was stuck. There's a piece of plastic in there that needs to be able to move and it was stuck in place. Once I freed it, formula started flowing. Thanks!

Thanks for posting. I accidentally popped the o-ring off and the springs came out of the center piece. I was able to put them back in, but I decided to clean the part out without them and the worked the spring on the other end. Seemed to work well for me.

Hey Slippin' Jimmy, the same thing happened to me. I'm not sure how to put it back together. I'm guessing first put in the short wide spring, then the metal thing, then the long thin spring goes over that, then the black o-ring, then the white small circle thing. My model is way older than the one shown here, though.

+Barbara Cook could be the check valve on the motor output. I busted mine, see top comment. You can try ordering a new motor.

+murp2da yes water should flow through it, unless the check valve is stuck, probably soak it boiling hot water for an hour before trying to free it (see my top comment).

I borrowed a friend's spotbot. Is there any way to clean the dirty water container? The previous person did not rinse the holder well.

Thanks for making the video. Any advice for a spot bot that runs only on manual? The automatic system brushes not turning? Machine only turns on when hose button is pushed.

Try putting the hose away completely, locking it into place. My machine won't turn on at all for non-hose use unless the hose is locked into place. Then, voila! It turns on!

Before you take your Spotbot apart, check if the hose/pump needs some water to prime it. I was having this problem and the solution was to add water to the opening of the solution tank because the pump and hose were completely dry.

Chris Gd same thing happened to us! It was the t-hose that came loose and so it started leaking out. You have to Make sure it is snug and I recommend two people to ensure it's snug when you put it back. I had to have my wife help me hold it while I ensure it was snug the second time:) hope it helps

Thanks :)I actually found that the plug for the clean water tank was leaking. Bissell sent me a replacement screw on plug, and it kinda works now. Still having SOME leaks...thinking it may be the issue you brought up. I'm going to open it again and try one last time haha. Thank you.

Does anyone know what to do when the SpotBot's suction stops working during normal use? It works with the hose, but no with the standard brush mechanism.

The exit end of pump attaches to a T connector that sends solution to automatic or manual brushes. Mine was clogged in both ends. Running hot water through pump and cleaning did not help. Thinking I need a new pump? Caution, these are 120V DC pump motors.

The little white sponge is missing on mine! Will it work without that?

How do you take apart the housing on bissell poweclean pet

I had the same issue: it was lodged in there Solid, tried to move it from both sides, would not budge. THEN I took the Stanley FatMax to it with a metal chopstick. A few whacks later that sucker came out in pieces, along with the busted spring. Anyways, I fired it up and working no prob. However, the question I have for the peeps here: does removing that check valve hurt anything?

+davidsonnow ok: I just found out the hard way: leaking everywhere, technically works, but uses the cleaning solution TWICE the normal amount... so, obviously the check valve prevents cleaner from leaking... I'm ordering a new pump :(

My automatic brush feature works but manual mode doesn't work would this still be what I need to do.

Does the button light up or does the hose provide any suction?

I used the hand tool for the first time and now cannot get the hose put back. What am I doing wrong? Tried a dozen times.

So you cut away before you take the stuff off of the motor to detach it and I can’t figure out how to get them off? I can’t pull them off, they’re on too tight? Feels like you missed providing instructions for an important step???

Can’t open pump. The white plastic appears to be one piece. What am I doing wrong?

For those who can't get working.. use really hot water (I microwave my water in a cup for about 1.2 min) then put in the pump plastic piece into it and let it sits for about 5 min before trying to clean with toothpick.. using regular hot water as shown in the video may not be enough.

i wish i could fix mine! i suck at fixing things..i gave a try but i coudnt unplug these things at 7:10 and i was afraid if i do worse so i rage quit! i use my spotbot only for sucking and i spray the solution with a spray bottle! :/

Really good video. WARNING. Don't forget to soak your pump in hot water. I broke mine trying to unstick the actuator which was frozen in place. I tried to force the mechanism to move with a sawed of nail and hammer (overkill I know, but i was frustrated). It actually looks like one of the springs got folded under one of the plastic pieces and rendered the thing useless. I got the new pump. The plastic thing at the top of the pump that I was trying to move, doesn't move... even though there is a spring. I believe that soaking the parts would have worked.

The belt on mine keeps slipping now.
