be sure to only put one of these on the downstream o2 sensor. the upstream one is used by the ECU to tune air/fuel ratios. the downstream only exists for the emissions system to tell if the catalytic converter works. if you space the upstream sensor you can mess up your air/fuel mixture, and it wont affect the emissions test at all. i used to run a spacer on my old subaru and it fixed the code. I'd imagine since you're not using a spacer with a catalyst in it the front spacer wouldnt mess up the afr too badly but it certainly cant do anything good. also you can just pull the battery to reset the code. all you're doing by unplugging the ECU is taking the power off it. I guess it did look pretty easy to unplug your ecu but in other cars that can be a pain in the ass compared to unhooking the battery. also you can usually reset the codes with an ODB scan tool. I cleared my code with a $15 bluetooth odb scanner from china.

Are you sure you fixed the problem? You said you only let the car idle, that may not have been enough to actually run the monitor.

Years ago I had a car with the 'check engine' on all the time, I just covered up the light with electrical tape. Even when I sold it the tape was still there, I should have tried this, it might've been what was wrong. NEXT TIME!

My mr2 engine manegment light came on while i was driving there was a strong fuel smell and engine kept on cutting out, the car was lacked power misfiring lacked had to pump the gas pedal like made just to get it home, problem?

Your trick won't work in California since you MUST get smog check when transferring ownership . Check-Engine light gone doesn't get you to pass Smog-Check .
