Fix a Stove Top Burner That Clicks But Won’t Light
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Burner clicking but won’t light? I’ll show you how to fix a gas stove top burner that clicks but won't light on a GE stove. If the burner just keeps clicking when you turn it on, the burner spark igniter or burner base is impeded by grease and gunk or the spark igniter electrode is bad and needs to be replaced. My stove is a GE XL44.
Klean-Strip Denatured Alcohol, 1-Gallon: amzn.to/314TiSK
GE WB13K18 Spark Electrode: amzn.to/3Eftcv3

Few years back I asked a so called "electrician/plumber" for help to fix my GE Profile stove igniter and his response was "just replace it" when it wasn't not even 7 years old. You are an excellent teacher. ❤ and now I'm a new follower.😊

Hi Ana! Thank you and welcome to the channel. Yep, if a contractor, service provider, mechanic or the like can't clearly, and with specification, explain why you should replace something, I wouldn't do it. Most things can be fixed and work just fine. I encourage you, and others, to fix stuff yourself and save your hard-earned money. ;)
I love it when a “how to” video comes along and then someone inevitably uses the comment section to show how much they know about the job. Rather than make a video themselves they steal the show. That being said; This is a perfectly informative video, without the other “ in my experience” comments. Thank you! Good job lady.

That's interesting. I often appreciate others' comments on technical and DIY videos. They're not always correct, but they often have good tips, additional considerations, etc. Also, channels with solid technical content--like this one--often seem to attract fairly knowledgeable, constructive viewers, so the tone is typically more constructive and congenial than in much of the rest of KZread... that is, "in my experience." ;)
This is one of the most helpful videos on KZread. I am usually hesitant to work on anything involving gas, but you demonstrated how easy it is. I thought I had to live with one less burner. Thank you.

Hi. My GE gas stove was clicking but not lighting. With the exception of using a different solvent to clean with I did exactly as shown in the video and sanded the 4 igniters as none of them were lighting as of today. Whole process took 10-15 minutes. It worked perfectly and all 4 burners lit up on the first try and the previous continuous clicking of the igniters was handled as well. Thanks for the video. I look forward to having my eggs for breakfast!

Thank you, EleeB. That's so kind of you to say. ;)
From my experience the first thing to check is the cap since the cap is on loose sometimes after cleaning the cap is put on with the wrong side down try flipping the cap back on with the opposite side down the correct side down has a swirling engraved pattern that guides the gas so gas exits burner correctly if you hear the popping sound that means electric sparker is working also if unsure turn off lights in kitchen in the darkness you will be able to see the spark if unsure clean the sparker with 90 percent rubbing alcohol it's cheaper this should solve 95 percent of your problems I liked this video good job
My front burner would sometimes click and not light, then other times it would light. When it did not light I would just use a match to light the burner. This how to repair is exactly what been looking for. This is the best stove repair video ever. Thanks.

You know I came to this channel by accident in the way that it was a suggestion by KZread. I came to see if the channel knew what it was talking about as far as gas stoves go. Reasons/diagnosis, etc. Being a tech for 45+ years over many flavors including hp for 15 years. As simple as a gas stove is this video was really well done for the DIY. One in a million but I'll add something new to the equation that I had run into with a gas stove. We had moved into our current home in 2013, well firstly on the inspection tour my daughter knocked the stove handle and started the gas supply to one burner and yes the Oder of gas. The omen... ;) ... After moving in and for quite a while my wife would complain that the stove didn't work correctly. I being there I could not duplicate it. After enough complaining about the performance I decided to purchase a new turbo charged model at a scratch and dent outlet. I never by "Brand New"... ;) ... Here's the twist, when I removed the gas line from the house side there was a piece of plastic film, plastic film that was not removed prior to installation of the gas line. By nature it caused variable amounts of gas to flow. I had found the problem after the new stove arrived but before we sold it so we knew we were not selling a bad stove. Something to look at when diagnosing which I had was the regulator. The regulator in my case ended up being a very flimsy piece of protective plastic that was not removed when the gas line was installed at the build date or later on. There are Co detectors but I have CO+Explosive gas detectors around the home. CO+ are a really good deal online for cyber Monday. Sorry to be so winded but I felt the need.. Excellent camera angles. I do not know what more you have on your channel but I will subscribe. Hats off on this video! You would hope every corporate training video would be inline with this video.
