But filing down the components... it might now work, but is it still fully secure?

That is a no,it isn’t secure.

Thats great if the key isnt stuck in the lock and the lock is still in the door !!

I bought a new one, working on this out of curiosity, for maybe a shed or for some reason they need the same key, or they cannot justify spending money on a particular door.
