    *CORRECTIONS/ADDITIONS BELOW* Tip: try looking at the shoulders and overall character profile rather than zeroing in on the hands. I FORGOT TO EXPLAIN: we use Dragunov because his throws dont' have motion inputs. There's no "telegraph" like some other characters have; you have to see the hands. It also makes it easier to record the throws in the first place! Also, when I said "parries are unbreakable" around 13:20, I meant "getting thrown while parrying makes the throw unbreakable"

    Aris used to do these throw break tutorials too. I like one part of his video in "TTT2 Throw Break Training and Theory" at 4:30 when he says "Also, what you should do when you're practicing throw break is, every time you practice them, make sure you practice them against a different character, because as you can see Armor Kings hands look different than Asukas hands, and Kazuyas hands may look different than Jack's hands so don't practice breaking your throws against ONE character that's a bad idea.". Watching out for animations against big characters is hard if you're only used to "normal" characters.

    So glad a respected member of the community actually posted something about Tekken that's about how to train. We have so many videos and guides about how to perform actions and think about the game, but we have so little about how to train effectively and appropriately. My method was pretty similar to this and it's very important to do both sides. Every time I'd boot up Tekken, I wasn't allowed to get on Ranked unless I went into Practice Mode and broke 10 Throws in a row. I didn't do 8/10, I just wouldn't leave until 10 Throws were broken consecutively. And now my Throw Breaks are much better, and I can break even Steve's fast Wall Push Back Sway Throw and that thing is fast.

    For anyone struggling a lot to break 8/10 in Level 1 like I have, I came up with a "Level 0.5" that I think goes well with these drills. It's just like Level 1 but instead of trying to break 8/10 throws, your goal is to just break 8 throws without making any wrong inputs. This means if you press the correct break but it was just too late, you don't reset your count. You only start over if you pressed the wrong break. This goal is a bit easier to achieve and it's been helping me drill in the whole "It's better to be late than wrong" thing. Then of course once this becomes easy you do the normal Level 1.

  • @kennethamielsantos8034

    @kennethamielsantos8034

    @barnacleman3233 Does it count if you guessed right after seeing the animation rather than reading the grab itself? (Example, when dragunov uses the 1 throw, he breaks your leg, now does my guess count if I already saw the leg break animation but didn't notice whether he used the left or right arm during the grab itself?)

  • @Claudlines

    @Claudlines

    4 ай бұрын

    @@kennethamielsantos8034 I would say no. You should only count "correct guesses" if you actually read the arm of the throw and actually pressed the correct button even if its pressed a bit late. Whats most important is to ensure you are not guessing when you press a button even if its a late press. With practice it will get quicker.

    To add, so that you don't react based on the succesful throw animation, you can make character lay on the ground, activate the throws mixups, then grab an unplugged controller or whatever you could get your hands into, and try to break the throws.

  • @BlackStar300

    @BlackStar300

    I'm trying to do this right now and I'm trying to make it harder and do 10 in a row. I don't mash, but sometimes I mix up what to press and I realize my mistake. Yes I should just press even if I fail, but you start to really know the animation. Like the 1 break here is a side swap, but the 2 break is not. So I'm still stuck on level 1 after like 15mins cuz I have not done 10 in a row.

    I did the same thing when i trained my eyes/brain to counter throws in T7. The issue i had was my reactions went to auto mode with left side. I started training as a p1 and when my reactions got to the place where i could break the throws at any speed then i went to p2 side for training which was the wrong move on my part. Because when you are on the 2p side everything shifts. The left arms goes at the back side and right arm at the front. My brain was developed a reactions so well from 1p side that i missed 99% of the time from 2p side because i always pressed the opposite button as my brain always told me to press 1 when the forward arm is at the front and press 2 when forward arm is at the back. Even though i knew that on 2p side the forward arm at the front is right arm when my opponent is on 1p. I had to unlearned my 1p side throw breaks by taking a break from T7 for a month and half for my reactions to get dull again. Then i started again but this time i trained my brain to only look which arm is forward (left or right) in throw animation. Never had any issue with 1+2 throw break before.😅

    Something interesting I found when I tried this I dont know if its the same for other people who main p2 but Ive always played on the right side and STILL had almost 100% success rate on the left but ate shit on my MAIN SIDE. Its sort of like when we were kids and the teacher would say “in my left hand i have ___” but we wouldnt get it cause we couldnt put ourselves in their shoes. Maybe empathetic people throw break better on the right side naturally 😂

    @@Cheltastiqueas a king main I'll give you some tips, the way how to know what throws coming from king is actually in the movement. If he's running into you, it's more than likely going to be a 2 break ..don't even look at the hands . If a king puts out 2 hands from neutral , it literally has to be a guess as that's what the character is designed around.. throws. In this case look for a pattern .. If you were giant swinged first time, assume giant swing second time.. tap 1 . If u see muscle buster tap both punch . A good king will mix up those 2 throws . Every tombstone or tiuanna twister though is reactable . For the wave dash in throws .. expect usually 2 punch break for all . Good king will try to mix it up but at first assume 2 punch for all since that's always going to lead to the most damaging startup . Know at minimum ur rolling death cradle break. U will always have to eat the second option if king does that instead .. but u have to prevent death cradle damage . Spam 2

    Great job on the video - been watching your content for the last few weeks. Love how you break down the game for us beginners - especially those of us who really want to get better at Tekken in the long run. It's easy to just dive in and go crazy cuz the game is new versus taking the time to really learn the nuances of the game. ;) I casually played 3 & 7 but I really wanted to get into the game and be a better player for Tekken 8 - will continue watching your stuff, keep up the awesome work!

    Thank you for these videos, greatly enjoying tekken 8 (my first serious try at learning a tekken game, played 7 casually with friends that like to mash), and its in big part thanks to your videos making the whole process easier and more enjoyable! Goated content for sure!

    I think the hardest thing for me right now is differentiating the 1 break and 1+2 break. However, I’m also realizing that the more I fail, the more I’m starting to notice drag’s left hand come out further when a 1 throw comes out. It almost feels like he’s moving in slow motion

    Better to be slow than wrong is EXACTLY what I needed to hear, I keep prioritizing reaction speed over all else (which leads me to get grabbed anyway) The point about training faster muscle memory really opened my eyes
