Five Signs It’s Time To Replace Your Tires

Most modern manufacturers tell you tires are good for 10 years as long as they are stored properly. RevZilla hit the track on 7 year old tires as a test and had no problems. 3-5 years is a wives tale… but if you have tires on your personal bike that are 5 years old you should just quit riding because you are obviously wasting your time and money keeping that bike registered

To be fair, depending on the bike the rider and the tyre compound tyres can last ages

@@1700iDiGuy agree. I think this video is geared for inexperienced riders. When in doubt, change them out. Never ever go cheap on tires, brakes, or chain… very often people spend 1500$ on exhaust and then throw on the cheapest tire or chain they can find on Amazon

For my daily ride I have an 8 year old front tyre with good grip on its last stretch of the safety thread wear, I have a car and a last Gen YZF R6 where the tyres will definitely reach the 10 yr old marker but I won't sell it because of that 🙃

It's 2024 and I'm still running my tires from 2015. Age really doesn't matter unless you have weather cracking. I just bought a rear tire bc the grooves are totally gone. I'm 67 and been riding since the age of 12. I'm not made of money and I buy the cheaper brand of tires. Ride Dangerously!!!

You're wrong. Tires dry and harden with age. They may look fine, but the grip and handling is comprised especially when leaned over. You should be able to lean the bike and let go of the bars and the bike should hold it's lean angle and stay on line. A sign of old hard tires is the bike feels like it doesn't want to lean and won't hold the lean on its own. 5 years is the safest bet to replace tires

Where does that 5 year limit come from? There is no independent analysis of that, its just the manufacturers, some say 5 years, others 7, others 10. I have a Pirelli Dragon on my 1989 FZR 600 which is week 12 of 2004. The tyre is pefect. Not hard, no cracks, rides great! (Is is kept dry, away from sunlight, and at a stable temperature)

Bad suspension setup or balancing issues. Dynabeads (for balancing) can help prevent this.
