Five great battery solutions for the BLACKMAGIC POCKET 6K and 4K cinema cameras - Soonwell PH70

Фильм және анимация

In this video I share five great ways to power your Blackmagic Pocket 4K and 6K cameras. First solution comes from Soonwell and is the Soonwell PH70 which is a battery that also doubles as a top or side handle. This is a great solution and gives you access to two D-Tap ports, two DC out ports and one USB-A port. A killer solution that gives you power for the camera and a lot of accessories.
Second solution comes from Tilta and is the Tilta Focus side handle. A great piece of kit which also lets you to control the focus of your lens through the Tilta Nucleus Nano.
Third option is gonna be to use a NP-F980D battery on your monitor and then share the power of that to the camera it self through the DC out of the battery.
Fourth solution is using the NP plate from Tilta. A cool solution which lets you put the camera anywhere.
Last but not least the FX LION V-Mount battery. This is a really good V-mount battery with an OLED screen and USB-C output. The USB-C port lets you power your Laptop and you can also use an Apple Macbook Pro charger to charge the battery.

    The solution with the 980D battery seems to be a somewhat hit n miss for some people. For me it has worked great but a few people have reached out to me and told me that it didn't work for them, Because of this I can't recommend that solution anymore, best wishes arber.

    I think it's because of the 7.4v output from the battery. Doesn't the BMPCC4k require 12V minimum if you're running it continuously?

  • @jonasvetsch6416

    @jonasvetsch6416

    Yes, since NPF Batteries only output 7.4 V and the BMPCC requires 12 V you could damage your camera on the long term by providing it not enough voltage.

    DO NOT feed 7-8v to the 2-pin power input. That takes 10-20v! If you want to use the power directly from the NP-F you need a dummy battery.

    Great review! I am considering the BMPCC4K/6K, and one of the obvious concerns is how to power it. As I already have the Tilta Nucleus Nano, their cage with control side grip interests me. How bulky would it be to add their V-mount "cage" below the camera cage? Seems like it would be a bit bulky, but a good way to power the camera, a monitor and add rails/matte box when needed.
