I hope your scars are healing little by little. Sorry for your loss. In Islam people that die before puberty and some people with mental disorders have a guaranteed place in heaven. Inshallah your son is there and you will be able to meet him again one day. I'll pray for you to be reunited with your son in heaven when your time comes.

I think the song's message is about understanding each other's differences and learning how to sympathize with them. The video portrays a robot, which represents a foreign entity from society. The robot gives the little boy his heart--an act that implies "if I give you my heart, you'll be able to understand the pain and suffering I go through, being estranged from the rest of society." The repetition of "what if" connects to the powerful messages of sympathy and understanding, which is further emphasized in the video (learning to live with each other in harmony, despite the differences). While we may have different values, beliefs, and lifestyles, we all have something in common that makes us human--a heart.

The Five Commands For Fighting are from THE ALMIGHTY FATHER who is portrayed in this video as a ROBOT, as HIS Son, is a genetically engineered 'terminator' ('nanites', 'beings' 'AI') who starts out as a 9 year old, but by the end of the video is 18 years old.

He saved the boy's life giving a heart thing a human rarely think of doing. ♥

When I was little, every morning I would watch "VH-1" with my brother before we went to school and this would always play and I loved it. It's now 5 years later and I searched through time and space for this video, I didnt remember the name of it so all I was putting in my search bar was "music video of boy and robot" and I couldn't find it anywhere until now😭😭

This man's voice is the embodiment of my years in school. Every time I hear one of his songs, I see myself back in those years of homework, recess, and lunch with friends.

Love this video. I always enjoy music videos that tell a story rather than simply show the performer singing the song.

This song deserves more views. I just come back after not listening to this song for long time. So nostalgic.

So sad, sweet, and amazing this song. I am a bit "cold" naturally and distrustful of many people due to personal experiences/struggles. This song "warms" me somewhat and speaks to me in a visceral way, I never had close friends or anything like that and the robot makes me think of that and how I can't trust most people but yet knowing if I ever found someone I could completely trust/engage with I would "give them my heart" and enjoy our time together even if the sacrifice ends my own life. Also this song/video always makes me cry.

Please keep making these songs. We know you're not getting a billion views each but the million that are here are on repeat!

Videos and songs like these should get a lot of recognition. Creative and meaningful, I'm glad Five for Fighting hasn't lost their touch.

I found myself crying near the end. This video bespeaks of much love and kindness they had for each other. The way we are all supposed to be with each other.

I'm turning 17 and I'm absolutely proud of myself that I grew up with his songs since 1997. And the song "Superman" is one of my favourites. The best as always. :')

Just wanna say something. Out of all the robot related concepts out there, this is by far my favorite. It's heartfelt, beautiful, and just plain powerful. It has a message. Way better than transformers LOL

For me it wasn’t just the song it was a combo of the song and video as it wouldn’t have stood out to represent half what it did if it weren’t for both together…..

I love this song!

Couldn't stop the tears. So many strong emotions from this song. A journey through all of our human emotions in only a few moments. So very powerful when your lyrics explain the things we feel and we hear your song, but more importantly, we feel this song. Bring my mortal self back to the simplest things in life that I could not live without. No man can create those things with his hands, but only with his heart. People close their hearts off and never find what they are looking for. Afraid to lose, afraid to hurt. If one never loses, than one never learns to win. If one never loses a friend, than one never learns to cherish or to miss. If one never hurts, than one never knows what joy truly is. They would never find or know happiness. That thing that everyone is looking for, doesnt come from anyone else, you cant touch it. You will find it when you give it. Amazing how something so simple is so hard for many to comprehend and harder still to give it away.

Jesus, I wasn't prepared for this. I haven't cried in over 2 years and this almost got me.

i remember i used to watch vh-1 every day before school in elementary and i’d always cry when this music video came up omg🥺

Absolutely love this song. I view it as a comparison to parents giving life to their children, and one day their child having to say goodbye -- despite the want to do anything to keep them alive. That's the beauty of music -- it's our own interpretation. Bravo, Five For Fighting. Bravo!

John O is simply one of the most talented song writers alive today. One song after another, this guy is amazing.

I wasn't really paying attention to the lyrics as my hearty was being smashed to pieces by the saddest vid I've ever seen, but to me the video symbolized sacrifice and love because it looked like the robot killed himself by giving his heart away. But at the same time I think the video was emphasizing that those few years with the kid was a fuller life than the life of solitude. Just my thoughts

This is so beautiful... I honestly haven't had this kind feeling for so long from listening to a song.

I love the part "can we love what we don't know?" Love that ! Like we can love what we learn and experience through someone else and see through them, seeing through someone elses heart and their scars and had their tears, amazing to think about! The words and melody hit with compassion!

Why this kinds of songs are so underrated

My daughter just turned 2...i'm 40..i waiting a long time to have kids cause i didn't know if i could be a good dad. I love this little girl more than anything in the world. I will give everything in the world to her...i pray that God takes care of her always.

"You made your mind up before you knew me". A choice to unconditionally love and sacrifice before knowing someone. "What if I had your heart, what if you wore my scars?" This is all about everyone being spiritually connected. "I had a dream of a new tomorrow" "I took a step hoping you might follow". This could be about heaven or spiritual ascension. "If you don't get it, then you don't get it" means this: if you don't get that we are all connected and here to learn to unconditionally love each other, then you don't get what life is all about. Notice, in the end, the robot rises, it ascends, it does not go in to the ground. More symbolism. Incredible.

Holly crap you don't know how much I love this song this is amazing I listen to it everyday at least 3 times and it has been 2 years since I first heard it yet everytime it plays, it still makes me feel the same way I did the first time I heard it! ❤️❤️
