    Coming from a boxer, I can say it definitely takes time to learn good form + "sit on your elbow strikes" to generate that power. Not easy as it looks.

    One of the key advantages to elbows is that you can cage up your guard, particularly with the upwards elbow. This is a huge advantage for beginners in a street conflict; with guard up they don't need to worry as much about evasion of their opponent's strikes in between them delivering theirs. Perhaps a point worth focussing on

    This comment was made four years ago so I apologize for the necromancy, but another thought; travel times on the elbow are faster, since it’s closer to the body, therefore it allows better leverage, a more explosive motion, and a far quicker windup to impact time. Pretty nasty when someone gets hit in the face with one of them, really happy I’ve never had to give OR receive one.

    you have some basics, but honestly not enough.. use more hip & shoulder rotation. It wouldn't hurt to penetrate more into the target, but you would have to have a better hold on the strike pad. A little more bend in the knees wouldn't hurt.

    How?

  • @donkeytwoddle

    @donkeytwoddle

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@liamwebster6528 happens all the time actually. Street fighting as an untrained person is quite unhealthy for your body and should be avoided. Conditioning the joints and bones to be denser and the angles to be correct is very important, it usually takes years training before someone throws an unprotected elbow at another persons face in a competition. Under-training, bad luck on the angle or both lead to a lot of fighters getting elbow, shin or knee fractures and breaks. Very common to see in kickboxing amateur/semi-pro matches. Bones are hard, but they are also quite brittle. Better than the thin brittle finger bones and tendons in the fist; so they beat the risk bare-knuckle fighting has on your hands. Tendons in your hands and the bones grinding down is harder to fix than shin or elbow fractures.

    The technique on the straight elbow is wrong, you shouldn't be striking with the whole forearm like that instead you should be using the area much closer to the joint. Also on the cross elbow it's better to keep your hand closer to your face rather than going all the way across as it gives you more protection

So I’m at a family tire shop getting my tires changed when the mechanic sees me practicing my kicks in the tires while I’m waiting for him to finish changing my tire. He said “ you ain’t got nothing kid lemme see something” Cast on my right hand to forearm and all I elbowed that one tired so hard it sent a chain effect and knocked every tire down in sight. Wasn’t a fun clean up job😔😔 Just saying bro his use of his elbows disgusts me😭

    the elbow should be coming in at arcs and not the vulnerable aspect of the elbow or you're gonna injure yourself. Theres a sweet spot and when you find it it's an ahh ha moment. the way this guy is teaching it is wrong in my opinion. it's slow and the range is predictable, most fights end quickly so your choice of strike or defense better be good and that elbow"jab" as he called it isn't gonna cut it. the technique should be like a mid/short range hook and uppercut like strikes, it efficiently defends as you strike at close range.And the motion should be fluid with response muscle fire ready for the next move. This dude is stiff with zero bounce in his step.
