    Just for future reference regarding the fuse box under the headlight. There is access and egress routes for cables, if you remove the fuse board itself which just unclips you will see the route down the bottom, no need for drilling and plenty of space for additional cables. I found this out recently when adding some DRLs.

    Hi buddy can you recall when fitting the instructions tell you to cut the blue wire pin 13 on the multi plug to the big relay, it seems a bit strange to me so I’m not cutting that until I speak to pf jones… I’ve picked up the 12v from the battery itself under the van and into the battery box.

    Hi. Getting power was my challenge! I did have to snip a wire going into a box in the rear corner pillar. That box, I believe, is the reversing sensor controller. So that when you go into reverse with a trailer on it doesn't beep. I did what it said, and it all works.....! If you don't do it, I'd expect it all to work, but beep when you reverse a trailer. (of course, my kit may've been different to yours, but thats what mine did)

    Hi Ryan, may I ask, you removed the bulkhead but the void space around is now covered, where did you buy that bulkhead around cover?

  • @Ryan_DYD

    @Ryan_DYD

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm afraid I cheated and is a perk of buying a new van.... If you specify "no bulkhead" as a no cost option you get all the trim pre installed. (Also, single seat is a no cost option, and passenger airbags are simple). Saves c. £1k in bits + hassle over a 2nd hand van with double seats and bulkhead. There is a company, coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/body-exhaust/trim-panels.html who sell the parts but you need quite a few and is quite expensive as you can see.

    Hi Graham, thats the converts socket that is an option so may not be on all vans. I can take no credit for the info - look at MrG's blog here - has all you need to know (and all I used to set it up) www.misterg.org.uk/camper-converters-socket.html

    Did you need to program the software or anything like that to finish the installation?

  • @Ryan_DYD

    @Ryan_DYD

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nope. The interface board with the kit (dedicated) connects and thats it. Software only needed for complex beasts, like cars with ESP to deal with trailers, or self levelling suspension. This just interfaces to work the lights and the van is otherwise unaware.

    Hi Again, may i ask? in the end when you need to connect the wires to the bonnet fuse box to get power... Why didn't you connect them to the battery instead of the pillar?

  • @Ryan_DYD

    @Ryan_DYD

    2 жыл бұрын

    Could not find an easy route to the battery without drilling battery box etc. The 12v at the converters socket, that I was going to use anyway, was easy access. The route to the engine fuse box was a lot more work. To be honest, it was the least impact route - I didn't want to drill/damage/touch anything on a new van

    just bought an l3h2 ducato 70plate for conversion. fitted rear cameras and now looking at a towbar. i piggybacked the feed via the dashboard fusebox would that have been easier than fitting via the battery isolator?

  • @Ryan_DYD

    @Ryan_DYD

    3 жыл бұрын

    I didn't see a way of getting a cable into the cab area easily, so if you managed it - good on you! It beat me. I needed to use the converters socket for Battery-to-battery system, D+ signal for step, dashcam (+12v & D+) - so I was going to wire in there any (see lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3eNznEslKenzx8n0T7G4rZe6hv-6U0nI0flDgkJ1qgX5qevdGyMyAwrs0h8K0LuuY7l11ZUSBOmhbeWe87uPv9S92igzO_uTJedeLkW5cizNZa7-ra9pmNMSK3-PfwDcCfTatTiA82beXsrPiIQBu4QiQ=w493-h657-no?authuser=0 ). So using it for towbar wasn't any hassle. (Its on the live side of the isolator - the isolator is just for link to battery-to-battery system)

    @@Ryan_DYD I followed the lights wiring loom along the top channel drivers side and the down the door frame and under the step then up the inside of the door. if that makes sense. now you got me looking at air suspension. 👍

    Yes I understand what you did now - hope your comment will help someone else without converters socket! I went roughly the same route but stopped early. Re air suspension - the kit I bought is really good and simple to fit - depending on where you want the gauges. Yesterday first drive in a month with more weight in now, and the van handled really well and no suspension noise at all. Bargain for the price compared to some. (of course, if you want a cleverer system you may want a different kit, but I don't). Do it before the rubber helper nut rusts :)

    Great video, very useful info. May I ask was the wiring you were installing for a 7 pin or 13 pin electrics? Thanks.

  • @Ryan_DYD

    @Ryan_DYD

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi. I installed 7 pin, but the 13 pin is similar and just drops in - may need a beefier +12v feed but nothing complex. (My trailer is a simple 7 pin thing and no need for more). I did install their 13 pin kit on a previous van, and it simply dropped in and installed the same way. Check out PFJones website, they have the manuals there for the dedicated kit, and check the part numbers. Search their store on ebay as they may sell the same kits cheaper on ebay (eg boxer kit XXXX may be cheaper than ducato kit XXXX even though they are the same and same part number). Good luck

    Hi Ryan, its now time to think about our bikes and install a towbar in our 2021 boxer. PFJones have 6 towbars for the boxer 2021: Westfalia, Brink, PCT, Witter, PFJones, and Oris. which one is yours Ryan?

    hi ryan i followed your towbar install, and learnt a lot from you. however i cocked up on the electrics i just bought a relay for canbus electrics wired it up . great stuff it worked ok with sensors. soon as i put my towbar bike rack on the sensors just beeped continuous and brought a warning light up on dashboard . so now i think yours is wired to the sensor wiring with the correct wiring kit. i know ive made a mistake , but some people may want to tow a car so the sensors automatically switch off , is this the case with yours cheers john

    Hi. Yeah, the dedicated kit (c. £100) is weeeeell worth it! Plug n play and just works. Links with the reversing sensors happily and just works as you'd expect and no beeping when something connected. Also deals with foglights so you don't get "bright" reflections. I'd not want to snip and use relay kits - these vans are sensitive enough.
