    Hi, I did chuckle when you said you were going to wind the pistons back with pliers. I though to myself, we’ll see lol. Please don’t be afraid to show the tough bits so we can all learn with you. Thanks for the vid, keep up the good work 👍🏻

    I noticed when you removed the caliper from the NS, the nipple/dimple locator on the back of the pad wasn't in line with a gap on the piston! It looked like it had been vibrating and rubbing on the piston so that definitely would have contributed to the excess wear as the brakes would be grabbing slightly even when released. Only saw you put the OS back in the vid but it looks like you lined them up putting them back so should bee better now.

    An essential upgrade, mine is much better since doing this. Strange how secondhand ST170 Focus carriers aren’t much less than Mk1 Focus RS ones are....yet the are the same!

    Those rear slider pins are a tw*t for seizing on these cars, replaced carriers on mine last year as all four had seized and will be re greasing soon

    Yeah they are awful but have zero idea why. Since I used ceretec last year though I've never had a problem :) luck of the draw is my guess

    What is the benefit of a bigger disc if you use the the same calliper and pads? Would a grooved standard sized disc not be more beneficial?

  • @CarRambles

    @CarRambles

    4 жыл бұрын

    Ummmm ok so the easiest way to explain it is basically leverage. Same as a door handle. The longer the door handle easier to open. Now you get a bigger disc and bring the pad / caliper out further. It gives it more leverage or ability to stop the wheels from turning. Does that make sense?

  • @CarRambles

    @CarRambles

    Cooling is the obvious one :)

  • @fordyford

    @fordyford

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah that makes sense. I was thinking about cooling being a bigger surface area but wondered if having that free space could also be a negative by not using it all with the "right sized pad" for the disc.

    Your pads wouldn’t of lasted long with them only being road use not track, I find it ironic that you are slaging of euro car parts brembo pads when they are road use, maybe buy EBC pads and disc for the rear if you are going to be tracking it more, get EBC green stuff pads they are for track and normal road use

    I’m not saying the pads are amazing but they are a big named brand and have warranty on them so if they weren’t the best you should of took them back and they would of replaced them for you
