Fitting Oversized Spare Tire to Mercedes Sprinter

My 2021 Storyteller Overland Classic MODE comes with 30.5 inch BFG KO2 tires, which are slightly larger than the stock Mercedes Sprinter tires in both width and diameter. This means my full size spare tire won't fit under the original spare tire basket. Fortunately Agile Off Road sells a bracket that's both inexpensive and easy to install. In this video, I document how I installed this bracket.

Good video Peng. FYI the KO2s that STO fits are larger than the stock tire but only in width, by about .8”. That’s why dropping the basket with this mod works. The diameter is the same, at 30.5”.

Great video. What size tire did you put into the basket?

I believe 265/60R/18. So same diameter as standard tire, but wider, so the standard basket won't fit. You'll need additional modifications if you have bigger diameter tires as I've mentioned in the video.
Just an observation, your ombré red to yellow video border looks nice but the red on the bottom makes it impossible to tell if I’ve watched your videos. I use that red line so I don’t rewatch videos and yours all look watched so I’m apt to visually skip by when I’m scanning and I’m less apt to catch up on content I’ve missed in my feed. I’m a STO owner and I don’t want to miss your videos.

Thanks for the video. Lowering the cage plus adding a bigger tire reduces clearance, correct? If yes, by how much? Any issue with scraping when off road driving?

Not in the back, and only a few inches in the front. I have yet to scrape it, but I guess it depends on what kind of off-roading you do. I'll go take a look tomorrow, but just from memory, I think you'll most likely hit the rear trailer hitch or something else before you scrape the tire.
