Neurology student here! They are a dramatic example, but it’s actually a researched idea called the “mismatch hypothesis”. Basically saying mental health today is so terrible because our brains haven’t evolved to match our modern environment. Because of that, mental illness has skyrocketed since industrialization. Technically our brains are still made for much less than what we’re doing, we cannot mentally catch up to our physical evolution.

I used to work at a gym (a functional fitness gym for context) and we were encouraged not to wear shoes. you think that would be weird but I was almost always behind a desk and my boss was never there (i worked the 5am-10am shift so i barely saw her). The reason for it is just ankle strength, our footwear takes most of the brunt from everyday actions so walking bearfoot is actually better for your ankle strength, leading to less sprains, letting your natural foot adapt to being unsupported

Real, it was INTENSE
No honestly when I started watching Kurtis, one of the main appeals to me was how his sketches always go on a little longer than they really need to. Gives the video a little extra charm.

I think the long bits are what make them great. They don't conclude where you'd expect, makes it more funny.

It's like Family Guy, but actually stays on topic
BRO PUT THAT SONG ON SPOTIFY!!!!!
shoes are kind of a simple way of foot binding. my daughter never wore shoes and shes older now, i wondered why her feet are wider. turns out she has natural feet and my feet are slim because of shoes.
4:22 you said “playing outside all year round while bare-chested *and* bare-chested” like they were different words and it driving me crazy

This was bothering me too omg I think it’s meant to be ‘and bare foot’ but Kurtis didn’t say anything so I was like am I missing something here
@frozenraspberries-

i think its meant as "bare-chested (actually bare-chested) and bare-chested (as in vulnerable & embarrassing because it might be humiliating and scary to do at first)" but it could also be a mistake and the second time might be meant as barefoot

I was thinking the other one could be bear-chested? As in, HAIRY?

He says it twice to emphasise he wants to see both boobs 💕
"TROUBLE IS A FOOT" has me cackling
i go outside in nature. barefoot only. i hate wearing shoes, some people don’t like it and some do. not trying to relate to this guy but i do love climbing trees since i was little and i do it barefoot because without shoes it’s much harder to climb and can damage your ankles, and i do love walking in the grass/leaves/mud barefoot. calluses is built up so it doesn’t hurt.
I love your cutaway sketches, pls never make them shorter
"I'm swinging on vines, Jane said you last 6 seconds" Is literally a genius line I haven't thought about Vine in a while

This comment made me realize the depth of the line. I went "oooohhhhh" to myself in my dark bedroom, lol. Thank you
it's an extra layer of comedy that the sketches go on just a few beats too long, it's hilarious, keep em
5:53 That skit had me dying Omg
Therianthropy wirh extra steps
“this a certified banger mr mayor!” we all say in unison
“Call me key I’m surrounded by peel” goes SO unironically hard
Didn't expect this one to have the best Kurtis song yet lmao
the skits are never too long!!
honestly, running on all fours pretending i was a cheetah, or climbing anything i could and being nicknamed spider monkey was one of the best parts of my childhood. it was so much fun and i genuinely enjoyed being able to connect with nature like that. also that tarzan diss track was actually fire 🔥

@shrikessthats an awesome thing to be known for
Kurtis' green screen sketches are like putting on the One Ring; he's slowly going mad but the power is intoxicating.
Friends to enemies to lovers arc would go wild
