Quick update: the fenders and liftgate are confirmed to be plastic. The skateboard chassis (where the battery is located) is aluminum.

Thank you for posting this information. Modern car designs (that are affordable) use aluminum and steel crumple zones and keep the main cabin steel because of its strength. Building a passenger car with carbon fiber is just too cost prohibitive and left for extreme exotics. Kudos to Fisker for building a solid cabin that provides great protection to the occupants.

Yes, the only mainstream EV maker that uses a lot of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is BMW. Yes, manufacturers use a combination of steel (varying grades) and aluminum (also different types) in the structural cage and other areas.

Thanks as always! New Ocean content is helping make the wait easier, haha. Any chance you could do an interior storage deep dive? What nooks and crannies are available, and maybe even an investigation as to whether the glove box omit was a design choice or a functional one (equipment or such blocking where it would normally be, etc)?

I can add it to my list. I'm planning on a "tour" video which will show lots of things I have noticed the first week of ownership. From what I know, the dashboard area on some new car designs are putting a lot of components and don't allow space for a glove box. The new Lexus/Toyota/Subaru EVs (as well as another car I can't remember) do this.

Thanks for your informative videos on your FiskerOcean One. We received our Ocean One four days ago, our delivery person was not as helpful as yours! A couple of questions: we recieved only one key bob at the delivery [compared to two with our Tesla]. Is our car eligible for $7500 tax credit? Do we need any paper work from Fisker for claiming the tax credit? We took short drives; drives well with firm feel and comfort. Our front end camera was not working, we called support at Fisker; hopefully they will send their mobile service to fix asap!

Supposedly, they don't have enough key fobs to include the extra accessory ones. The second rumored reason is that the car can only be paired with one key fob. That fill get fixed with an OTA update soon. Re federal tax credit, if you paid Fisker the $5000 deposit before 8/16/22, then you qualify for the tax credit. The full amount depends on what you owe on line 16 on your IRS 1040 form. If that line is great than $7500, you get the full amount, if less, then that will be your credit. Good luck with the car!

I think they have started using stainless steel (304 or 316) in cars because they are excellent during crash and also rust-proof. They are also non-magnetic. Non-magnetic metal can be either Aluminum or 304/316 stainless steel.

I did some more research and discovered that the skateboard chassis is aluminum. The fenders, liftgate and bumpers are plastic.

Thanks for your vid*s, helping waiting for my FOE. But: The mudguards (fenders / wings / rear side panels) are all completly made of plastic, not aluminum

Can you put a car magnet on the back?
