    video is great. the high vis line helps a lot. I never understood the difference between a snell and an egg loop. I would always just push the snell down the shank of the hook and push the line through the eye to make a loop. thanks again, I just need to practice some more.

    Knowing how to snell a hook before coming here helps a lot. I see a lot of guy saying the knot is hard. Its really not, like i said if you learn to snell first. Really its just an extra few wraps, i think people may be over thinking it. Easy to do with knots.

    Great video. This is a good loop when using frozen anchovy or shad as bait. Thread the bait correctly and the tail end will be pointed towards the line. Use the loop to secure the bait on the tail end. Once secure tou can add a bait button to ensure your bait won't fly off

  • @FTWQ

    So with the Egg loop knot, you need to tie the hook using a leader first. Once you have the knot tied, you will tie the leader line to your main line using a swivel or by using a knot for joining two lines together.

    *Perfect size hook for hatchery catfish that weigh between 3-5 lbs. my lip hook almost all the time unless your bait is very much desired by the fish>>> **allabout.wiki/1004** It's very durable made from hardened steel, I believe. You can use it over and over. It never rusts in my tackle bag. I use a knot less snell with a 25 lb mono filament leader line from Kastking for this hook. Its point is very sharp and can easily land a thieving fish. We landed many catfish with this hook. Best purchased in packs of 25 which should last you throughout the season.*

    I don't get it... what are you wrapping around the hook again with the second wrapping step? My line doesn't do that and it's impossible to hold the other end when doing it? I'm sticking to the constrictor knot... way easier to tie and probably stronger.

    +merritt jackson Hey, so with this knot, you are going to be using a leader. And then once you have the egg loop knot tied... The other end of the line will be tied to your main line by swivel or with a double uni knot (which I have a video for, as well)

    Do you *have* to use a leader? I see you cant use this knot without it, but cant you just tie the hook on the regular way?

  • @FTWQ

    @FTWQ

    7 жыл бұрын

    Anne, You can definitely tie any other knot directly to you main line if you weren't wanting to use a leader. However, I would always highly recommend leader material. The Leader lets you dial down or up your line poundage/rating for when the conditions or species calls for a change. Plus you can have it set up for quick lure changes that you have pre-tied to connect right to the swivel (that would be connected to the main line if you decided to use leaders) I hope this helps!!!!

    I don't understand. Every video shows them saying that after it's wrapped around the hook, to pull the other end through the eye. The other end of my string is wrapped around a reel. How do you tie this to a fishing line that's on a rod and reel, instead of using just a piece of string?

  • @FTWQ

    @FTWQ

    2 жыл бұрын

    With this specific knot, it will only work with a leader. Once you have the hook and leader tied up, you will then connect it to your main line with a swivel or a line to line knot. Hope that helps!

I tied a normal hair rig added 2 halibut pellets pushed the line back through the eye a bit and put chicken liver through the loop and pulled tight and it seemed to stay on ok

  • @RyandWestfall

    @RyandWestfall

    9 жыл бұрын

    I am not sure what you are asking exactly. With this knot, you tie the hook on first... and then the hook plus the remaining line becomes your leader. Hopefully that makes sense.

  • @jay733

    @jay733

    9 жыл бұрын

    Yeah sorry about that. I use a swivel that attaches to my main line and then I use a leader which has the hook on the other end of that swivel so I was wondering how I can attach this hook to the swivel. So are you saying that the line that you use to make the loop on the finished knot can be tied to the swivel with any knot, say a polamor?

  • @RyandWestfall

    @RyandWestfall

    9 жыл бұрын

    Yep exactly. So if you want a 2 ft leader... Grab 2 ft of line (plus a few inches for the knots) and then tie the end you pull through at the end of making the egg loop to the swivel on the main line. And if Palomar is your go to knot, that works great. I personally keep it simple with improved cinch(for monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders)

  • @FTWQ

    +69adrummer You just have to make sure the loop is closed tight on whatever you are looping in. If something isn't staying... Adding some stretchy thread will help as well. Sometimes you have to hook your bait multiple times to make sure it has good hold and then wrap the egg loop around the bait. I hope this makes sense and good luck out there.
