That’s some damn good eating right there. Nice shellcracker Ty. Ty brother I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I lost mom and dad both 15 Nov last year. They were in the local nursing home and they called me to get up there and when I saw the nurse she said mom had passed and within an hour my dad passed away. If you ever need to talk or anything I’m here for you Bruh.

Bro that was wild. Wasn't that a big redear? Dang man and I thought that our Copper nose bluegills out here got big. The good ones run 2-3lbs. I catch them on bass gear. They fight harder than the bass do too. 😆

How?!? Year 2 on Havasu and I'm still dumbfounded about the size of those sunfish! What is it about that lake that produces those freaks?!? Any one of those fish would be a trophy anywhere else and this is just the beginning!!! Can't wait to see what happens next! Thanks brother 💪👊

the reason is there are zebra mussles in that lake. the redear cant get them without burning any energy at all so they just get massive man! nice smallie btw!

could be a number of factors. Maybe not enough bigger predatory fish? Over abundance of food?

Awesome video! Have a couple questions though. First one. Have you ever tried using a fly rod? I feel like you would really enjoy it. Second one. Are those the average size of sunfish in that lake? They are huge!! And third. Do you think you would have any luck bank fishing that lake? Or would you need a boat? I have a float tube but I will see if it’s allowed. Thanks man! Be safe!

Those r the fattest sunnies I've ever seen! I remember catching them by my neighbors boathouse (on worms) when I was a little kid! I could actually watch them come up and bite. It was hard not to be impatient and try to hook em too early!

WOW! Spectacular fish!! Just curious, which panfish tend to grow largest--bluegill, sunfish, bream, or hybrid mixes between the three? Also, do you eat any fish you catch? Awesome content my dude!

just so you know, bluegill are sunfish. they are bluegill sunfish. the largest kinds are red ear sunfish, and the hybrid between green sunfish and bluegill sunfish. (hybrid bluegill) havent seen any other hybrids get as big as those do. you wait for ty's word; i could be wrong, but I am very confident in my knowledge of sunfish.

  • @jasonborn867

@@williamstull1471 It's true bluegill are in the Sunfish Centrarchidae family along with bass, crappie and even rock bass, but the actual bluegill specie (Lepomis macrochirus) is separate from other species within this family, such as Redear, Longear, Pumpkinseed, Redbreast, and Green sunfish which have their own specie designations. And so a laymen could label bass and crappie as sunfish, but this term oversimplifies the distinct species. Now I could be wrong too, so will wait for Ty to weigh in, but I am interested in hearing if the crossed species he catches are generally larger than non-crossed. Please forgive my bream reference because after researching that too is an oversimplification. lol.

@@TyPigPatrol Those were some incredible lunkers you landed! So in comparing Redear, Longear, Pumpkinseed, Redbreast, and Green sunfish the Redear wins for largest specie? Do any hybrids beat the Redear, or is it absolute top dog?

We call those Shellcrackers locally. I think they are the biggest. However I once fished a pond that had some sort of hybrids in it where the length and height I guess weren't as big as a shell cracker but they were like 3x as thick!
