Fishing Floats From Ali Express But Are They Any Good?- Tackle Unboxing (Video 255)

Спорт

As most of you know I do love a bargain and I use Ali Express a heck of a lot for my tackle purchasess, often finding the items sold cheaper and many of them being of no lesser quality.
This is a short review/show and tell of three different sets of floats that I have purchased off Ali Express recently. Peacock Quills and Drift beater floats. I'm not making any commission on these items, just simply sharing with you my purchase and thoughts on them. I have also included links below for these products,should you wish to purchase them, but please also do shop around on Ali Express as you can find them cheaper from other sellers at times.
Kindest Regards Mark

    I’ve taken to making my own floats, and other bits and bobs of tackle of recent. I know they only do the same job, but I get a lot of satisfaction from, say, catching crucian on a antenna float I made to be super sensitive, and it working.

    I’ve started buying lures from Ali Express. Incredibly cheap and the quality is spot on. Delivery 1-2 weeks. Next order includes hooks and other terminal tackle, hopefully similarly decent quality 🤞 It’s addictive!!

    Ian I find them decent too. Good prices and yet some people would vilify those of us trying to save money. Because heaven forbid you shouldn't look to save some money 🙄. Then others suggest they'll unsubscribe from me for having made this video. Yet the same people will happily purchase Chinese made tackle with English brand names. Not able to see the wood for the trees springs to mind.

    i’ve bought a few bits and pieces from aliexpress…. got some good packs of ledgering rig items for carp fishing with all the components for a safe free running rig and they were less than a fiver whereas in this country in a tackle shop you’re paying double… I bought a 100 piece lixada set in a nice box and a hirisi 40 piece camouflage set… excellent value…

    Those "continental" style floats always look a bit big to me, though they probably have their place on larger lakes. The quills look a bargain for just four squid. Delivered. A good point has been made in the comments about local tackle shops... To be honest, I quite enjoy going back to basics, and using just a bit of twig or even grass stem as an indicator, being it a float or bobbin. Cheers chap.

    To be fair I think that ships sailed to a degree and whilst people can suggest about paying more to support local tackle shops, I'm afraid cost is cost cost to the consumer. Most tackle items come from China anyway and then get marked up somewhat terribly at times in our tackle shops.

    Sorry you feel that way. However most of our "british" tackle companies items you purchase already are fabricated in China, which I'm sure you know. I have had as much quality issue with items I have purchased inside the uk from said british companies who outsource their labour and fabrication to china yet are supposed to keep a hawkish eye on quality control... Of course you can then fall back and say "oooh but you're getting better customer service" Outside of Drennan and a few others not really. This is far from my first time using Ali baba/express etc. Have I had any issues though? Yes sure, I had couple of items that didn't show up or match expectations but Ali express re-imbursed me without an issue (just make sure you buy from a reputable feedback shop on there). I understand that it is not for everyone but there is a level of illusion that you are buying british from the big names in the UK and supporting them when in reality they are Chinese produced and prices then get bumped up when resold back in this country of ours. I have rods from Andorra that cost me 400 Pesetas yes 400. Purchased many years ago, they are still going strong,cork handles, short (6ft) cheap cheerful, landed me many low double figure carp as a teenage lad. Conversely I have british tackle companies items that have failed me. Gardner tackles specialist landing net pole that had an epoxy resin at the thread end which seperated. I was told by one of their reps that he had had the same issues and repaired his himself.. I had a Wychwood specialist folding landing net (a landing net i still put up with and replace despite its misgivings) which came away at the spreader block due to the design relying on tension and the block plastic gradually widening and then there Korum whom I don't really need to speak about, other than to say I was inundated with emails and messages from items ranging from their chairs failing at weld joints on non obese people to the korum snapper nets and snapper rods failing. What makes me angry the most though with some (not all) of our British tackle companies is the shocking customer service relations towards genuine customers whom have not treated their tackle badly and yet the items have failed on them, then left with little to no support or rudely treated. I do Apologise for my protracted reply and will end in saying that I would love british tackle companies to bring product fabrication and labour back inside the UK but I don't think we will ever see that happening again in a hurry and of course that would bring a bump in item production costs, but at the same time it might also bring back increased quality control a sense of pride in buying and supporting real british (not rebadged) and thus increased custom from UK anglers.

    don't complain when your tackle shop disappears through locals making minor savings.You make Western wages, spend it where the tax goes back in to supporting UK citzens...

  • @francolinobasco

    @francolinobasco

    2 ай бұрын

    Thing is it isn't really minor savings is it? Especially when the tackle shops are selling marked up chinese products from some of the largest supposedly "british" tackle manufacturers anyway. The actual main issue here is how item fabrication,production etc has long moved outside of the UK with many British companies so they can save on labour and part cost, yet not pass it back on to consumers.

    @@francolinobasco British businesses pay tax and employ people here in the UK. Thats where your savings come from when buying from the east, they make minimal contribution to our economy and take money out of the country to pay wages and make profit.This leads to increases in tax to sustain public spending in the Uk, etc...

    What part of items being sold by British tackle companies yet still fabricated in China is helping the British economy exactly?? The part where our British tackle companies employ Chinese staff lol? and factories and then price hike when the items are then sold over here?
