First work commute ride on the Can Am Ryker

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I ride my Ryker Rally to work for the first time. This is going to be my main commuter until the winter season rolls by where it falls below 50 degrees.

    The nature of a trike is that it will follow the crown of the road. So it will normally moves side to side. 2 wheels ride on either side of the middle hump and you dont get pushed around. You get used to it just like in a car. Becomes 2nd nature to keep it straight.

    I have a 70 mile round trip for work on my 2022 900. Still not too bag here in central Texas in early December . Around 45 degrees at 5am when I leave. With proper gear it’s not bad especially after 20 years in the military under my belt being in very cold 🥶 locations. I had to get to property aligned and balanced which the dealership did not take care of.

    I have a Madstad windscreen. I love the windscreen, makes a huge difference. Blocks a ton of wind. The only thing I don't like, is that you need to have the Madstad all the way up and all the way tilted back in order to get into the frunk. I can get the frunk up just enough to squeeze out a bandana or other stuff. Once I have it adjusted I don't want to change it. Just a heads up.

  • @RideAboutNow

    Ya I saw that on their video. That is why I am thinking maybe an 18 inch just up enough to open the frunk because I use that regularly. Anyways I will still give the OEM one a shot but I feel I might not hang on to it for long.

    Depends on the highway or road surface. If there is a depression on either side of center or it’s grooved you will shimmy. Just relax and go with the flow. Otherwise mine is rock solid on highway but shimmy’s more on back roads that are not even

    Leroy my recommendation would be a Spyder F3 for 2 up as that will have more room and will be mu h more comfortable. Ryker is more for a single rider in my opinion but if you spend some money on adding proper 2 up shocks then it you should be good for local 2 up riding.

    It does stiffen the ride, I think it's like 33% stiffer than normal. For me its really comfortable and I have a bad back. Its supposed to help with anti-roll when curving and the handling should be better when riding at high speed.

    Hi from Romania 🇷🇴! As I'm going to buy my Ryker in a couple of months and because the conditions of some backroads in my country are terrible to say at least, in clear contrast with the major roads and highways witch are silky smooth, I have a question to ask you! How thus the Ryker handles bumps and potholes? Especially potholes! Thank you very much! Oliver

  • @RideAboutNow

    @RideAboutNow

    4 жыл бұрын

    For the most part the Ryker is smooth. I would try to avoid the potholes especially on the front wheels. If you cannot then make sure the back wheel hits the pot hole rather than the front. If the front hits, the front end will wobble for sure.

It has been 90+ degrees this month, so I have been wearing short sleeves. I have also worn shorts on most rides. I just ordered a jacket with CE armour in the elbows, shoulders, and back.
