I’ve never had an issue with my JNS and I’ve done quite a few night rides with it in high-beam mode. Double check your aux wires that you’ve added and make sure you have clean connection. Not saying that was your issue, but at least you’ve checked your work. Congrats on getting the TDUB and welcome to the club where ownership is membership!!!

Everyone I know says to hell with kickstarters, we've evolved beyond needing them. Those guys have never really ridden their bike and had trouble on a trip. You can bump start these easy enough if you're not at the bottom of a hill or in loose terrain or snow, but the value of being able to give it a kick and see if the spark is good, and just get home to figure out the bigger issue later, is priceless.. my last 3 bikes and TW have all had the electric start ripped out and 2 of them don't even have batteries, just run off the juice they make from the engine. Headache-free. Kickstart kit for new TW200s can be bought online for around $200-300 and they're not too much trouble to get on, but probably best to hand it to your mechanic and hope he doesn't wuss out.

I bought a new TW in Denver, because that was the only one that I could find. I live in Southeastern Idaho. This was in 2022. On literally my very first ride, I was going up a steep hills in the hills surrounding my town, and I got off balance and tipped over. Nothing serious, just tipped over. The bike only had 32 miles on it. I got to the bottom of the hill, and tried to start it. Just like you, I had nothing. I took the tool bag side cover off, and I could see no reason why it would not start. I called a friend on my cell phone, and explained to him where the keys to my Dodge Diesel pickup were located. I walked down the steep hills to where it was not as steep, and waited. My bike was in a little saddle between 2 very steep hills. When my friend made it up to where I was waiting, I took over driving, and I went up the steepest hill that I have ever done with that truck. It was actually scary steep. We made it to the bike, and we loaded it up, and took it to the local Yamaha shop, and for $46 they installed a fuse in my bike with 32 miles on it. (Yes, I was pissed!) I now have a couple of spare fuses. I have 1,500 miles on it now, and it has never ever done that again. I do not think that your headlight had anything to do with why your fuse was broken. I wish that I had looked at my fuse more closely to see if it had "blown," or just broke. I am wondering if Yamaha just had some poorly made fuses installed in our bikes.

Always run accessories to a fused block. Only extra that should go straight to battery is a battery tender line. Fuse the accessories at 15amp. That's plenty and won't blow the main 20amp fuse. Makes it easier to trouble shoot as well,

If you put on handlebar risers, you could have put extra stress on your wiring harness. Shorting at the switch. There is also a connector under the tank that can separate if stressed.

Good to know I have an extra fuse in my TW200. Also it appears we have the same taste in motorcycles. I have a 1984 Honda CT 110 and a 2022 Yamaha Tw200.

I had this happen to me on my 2021 TW200 when my son dropped the bike. Turns out the rubber strap going over the top of the battery was not installed by the dealership, when the the bike was dropped, the battery shifted and must have made a bad contact somewhere. Maybe your problem was similar going over a bump or something? But anyway I doubt the high beams are the cause.

Did your dealer include the rubber strap for battery? I don’t think I got mine

@@hurt1704 They did include it, however when I pulled the seat off, I noticed the battery wasn't strapped down, and the strap was just hanging there. It's possible the strap popped off when my son dropped the bike.

@@hurt1704 I’d call them then and see if it’s covered under warranty. Or at the least purchase one. I hate it when you have to go back for things they missed. I get they’re only human, but they’re also supposed to be the professionals too.

Thanks, the bike it new to me too. I didn't even know that was there. On my other bikes It takes a pretty good short to blow a 20 amp fuse.

Sometimes in some situations like on your CT110 for example when you switch a load at high rpm it can cause a spike in A/C amps. Im not saying that was the cause cuz I wasnt there. But its possible. I dont know if the headlight is AC volts or not on the tdub. I believe the Honda CTs run power from the stator to the headlight switch so it runs off AC volts not the battery.

Hope you got it figure it out, but it wouldn't be the headlight. Even more so if you got the LED headlight. You got a short somewhere. Barewire or a connector is grounding on the frame.

Shoddy wiring on your accessories coulda blown it, even w/o them running.

Bulb or neutral safety switch or the wiring including any fuses or relays I may consider also installing your own switch for headlight. There are many times ware it can be very helpful. Unless the newer models come with a complete off switch for headlight? Also note when billions of fuses are produced a year a percentage of them are bound to be maybe less then design, maybe bad bend or crimp and element and the 20a is now more like a 15a fuse. Also note that the headlight is designed to be on in the wind especially high beam and the bulb could have got to hot and blew the fuse or created a short and blew the fuse.

What I did on my Yamaha 850 Special, was I unhooked the wire on the high beam bulb. You can then get a better charge running it on low beam only. Works great. 😊

Watching this again. I bump started my TW in 3rd the other day when my battery finally died. It was easy. I bought a new battery for it

Sorry, I am of no help when it comes to TW 200's. I'm here to learn. Hope you got it all sorted out with no lingering issues. Please forgive the painfully long on & on nature of my comment. I trust you will find it worthwhile the few moments it will take to read. Entirely off topic but damn dude, you've got all the sweet toys. A little Kubota track hoe, Honda Trail/CT 110 & the infamous old killer Honda Trike. Had one of those in my youth. Those things would wheelie for miles; almost as easy as just riding on all three tires. Still see several around up here in Canada, mostly on farms. If people knew how to ride them they were no more dangerous than any other bike or off-road vehicle. Damned stiff shirted bureaucrats & law makers; they take away all the good things & with them, all our fun. (think Ralph Nader & the Chevy Corvair; America's seemingly only competition & answer to the ubiquitous VW Karmann Ghia & sibling Porsche 914 at the time, albeit not quite as elegant & sporty although the Corsair Monza was pretty cool) The dangers & accidents were, as in most cases, driver related & not the vehicle's fault. As for the Honda TRC's, spinning donuts & wheelies were innately easy & second nature on those amazing trikes & the smiles per mile were unbeatable. The advertised horrors & dangers of tipping, rolling over or doing an endos (even from landing a jump) never once happened to me. (see previous comment pertaining to the immensely groovy discontinued Corvair) Karens like Ralph Nader ruin everything. These trikes also great fun in snow as well as dirt. On payment? Not so much. Speaking of smiles/mile, at my age I definitely get more smiles per mile on my scooters than any other two wheel vehicle I currently ride. Vespa GTS 300 Super, Primaveras 150 & 50 & my highway scoot the Yamaha Xmax 300. Since I sold my Honda XR650L I was done with off road riding & big bikes in general. I also sold my 1200cc Sport Tourer about the same time. The ease, fun, maneuverability, excellent fuel mileage & practicality has spoiled me with my scooters. (immense onboard storage, CTV transmission/twist & go, low maintenance, no messy chains) I am however thinking of getting a TW. Small, light weight, very manageable power, great fuel mileage, fun & affordable. Sounds almost like a scooter made for the trails & off-road. Still has the chain, manual clutch & transmission. The other big change/selling point for me would be a long awaited fuel system upgrade. If these things had fuel injection, I'm in! No muss, no fuss & the performance at high mountain elevations & passes would be fantastic. Not to mention re-jetting & messing with a carb if you do an after market exhaust swap. Could this be the perfect old man's off road bike with big old grippy & cushy tires, a belt drive CVT & fuel injection & maybe a 250cc engine? Sign me up please. I know this version of the beloved TW 200 would hold little appeal for you young fellows but I've had my time & fun off road. Most of which was on wicked maker 2-strokes. Now I want a trouble free small, affordable bike with just enough speed to get me from the city to the trails. I've been watching your vids, opinions, observations & mods on your TW. I'd actually like two of these. One pretty much stock with a few off-road upgrades/add-ons for off-road, trails & camping trips. (pretty much what it's made for) One with an engine swap (nothing crazy; a 250 or 300 would suffice) complete with a Super Moto set-up for the track & streets on occasion. I've seen videos here on KZread of these made into itsy bitsy teeny weeny little badass bobbers all blacked out. As far as your application (primarily off road use) you should really check out KipMoto.com for their insane light weight welded tube aluminum "Sherpa X" motor bike cargo trailers. I think it would pair perfectly with a TW200 for off-road camping trips. They are fantastic for motorbikes of all sizes & power capabilities. I've seen them behind Trail 90's putting along, (there are some dudes using their Honda CT 125's to pull these across the USA in the current Scooter Cannonball Run) DRZ 400's & other small to large dual sport bikes single tracking, going over jumps, hill climbing & creek crossings as well as on uber fast litre size street bikes doing 160 kmph on the highway. All of these tasks/tests were performed flawlessly. Perfect for off road & on road travel. You'll be impressed. Search all the videos on KZread as well. They are made right here on Vancouver Island. I have absolutely nothing to do with KipMoto, I just recently discovered them & love their product. You have to order customized hitches to attach to scooters but I suspect a TW is perfect for the ease of setup & use of the Sherpa X for camping. If your TW 200 has a hollow axle, as most dual sport, off-road & enduro bikes have, then no problem; Bob's your uncle. Just a heads up you’re supposed to ride during the day with your high beam on as a safety precaution. It’s actually a state recommendation

High beam? Thats a great way to piss off oncoming drivers, what state is this in?

I would change the headight to LED for a lower draw or lower amp , may help with this issue in tbe future .

My daughter dropped my TW in a parking lot one time and that fuse blew no idea why. It was almost brand new. I replaced it and ordered a dozen spares. It has 4500 miles on it now. Hasn't blown another one?

I just read a message about the auxiliary wire ,that is a great start it happened to me 4 years ago auxiliary cigarette lighter for my phone charger andit was grounding 👍👍

Wish they would had added a kickstart pushbutton start comb incase your in a dicth or somewhere where you can't bump start it

All you need is a surge for some reason and it will blow the fuse. Many times you'll check the whole system out and not find the problem because it was a random surge event.

I've watched a video where the guy had the same problem. He tried to start his bike with the high beam on and it blew a fuse. Sorry, but I don't remember the bike model, but I believe it was a new bike. If you leave your gigh beam on wehen you stop somewhere, it might be a good anti-theft device.

My husband wants me to ask you what mirrors you have on your TW?

I’ve had the high beam on for hours. I don’t have a USB kit. I’ve never blown a fuse on the TW. It’s an ‘89. I’m the original owner.

Having the same issue with my 2021. Only mod I’ve done were pro taper bars. Still scratching my head on it but very easy to push start if you roll it in third gear too.

Nope, it wasn't the high beam. If it doesn't happen again, I'd chalk it up to a bad fuse. (It happens)

Electrical problems are usually caused by accessories or components that were owner installed and not usually defects from the factory. I would say this is true at least 90% of the time.

My 2008 TW200 I had a starter relay failure. The battery and the lights and everything would turn on fine except when you go to hit the fire button to turn on the engine I would only hear a click sound I thought it was the starter but it turned out to be the starter relay order the new replacement from Yamaha do not buy aftermarket junk

I'd start the biketurn on the high beam and ride it for 45min go home turn it of and try starting it if it starts you could have had a defective fuse and if it doesn't start and the fuse is blown check the battery ,the Coyle just tro😮uble shooting I'm guessing and I'm not a mechanic let me know what you find!!👍

Check all wiring for pinched wires or bare connections That may touch the framework.... Check all wiring that you made up , for 12 dc power ports.. Sometimes wiring get pitched between seat and frame. You may need a fuse between your power ports and batteries...

You could have skipped the part where you take your jackets off... Take a bow.

Go to auto parts an get a whole pack of fuses putm in your bag! Had a big bear years ago every once in awhile it would blow one! I thought Goin through water was the issue! But who knows???
