First Tunnels Poly Tunnels: How to Erect a Poly-tunnel start to finish
I have been gifted this tunnel from First Tunnels, one of the leading companies in domestic and commercial tunnels.
I was excited to erect this as I have never had a poly-tunnel before and they simply help to extend the growing season for growing fruit and vegetables.
This video helps to quash the belief that poly-tunnels are extremely difficult to put up. Yes it was hard work but the end result is well worth it and I found the instruction that came with this tunnel easy to follow and understand.
I have not been asked to endorse First Tunnels or give a bias opinion and I pride myself on being down to earth and factual. Therefore although the price of these tunnels can be off putting and I know there are cheaper on the market, this company far exceeds quality and well worth the longevity.

I've bought a First Tunnels Polytunnel . Thank you so much for this video. We are about to commence the erection process 😀. This video has certainly helped me see what to do . Thanks once again 👍
Thanks for this👍 Great instructions & the most helpful video, going to make building our first Poly Tunnel so much easier🤩
This is just what I needed to see as in process of building a first tunnels polytunnel just now. Thanks very much.
Superb video. Thank you. About to get 8x15 from FirstTunnels, although going with sliding doors rather than making my own. Aside from doors and being 8ft not 10ft - this is exactly the spec and construction process. Brilliantly useful. Thanks again
Excellent. Fantastic pal. Looking forward to seeing more from your channel. Thank you.
Nice one dude just off upto my new plot today with an old net tunnel on thats been killed by the recent snow so gonna salvage the frame and buy a plastic cover, learnt a load from watching this !
Great work Joe, you are very talented, wished you lived closer. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the video. putting up a second hand tunnel this weekend so seeing you doing a step by step really useful.

Great work joe loving it ,our poly is 6 rys old this April xxx
This looks brilliant, my greenhouse blew down in storm, so will replace with a poly tunnel, this is, actually the size of tunnel i wanted too, so it gives me visualisation of it, I will watch this video again and then take a deep breath and order the beastie!, Thanks for video 👍
Looks amazing man was scared to put a poly tunnel up but looking at you guys putting it on going to try it but well done done to you guys
Thanks. Crop bars are a good addition too
Good day to you Joe !! excellent amalgamation of all the videos into one perfect start to finish "how to erect a polytunnel" superb job !! 👨🌾💚👌📽🛐
Great video - thanks for sharing
Nice video, just putting up our 2nd poly tunnel, both from 1st tunnels. The first one has been up for 18 years, and the same cover
Really good *how to do* video, if the guys from First Tunnel are clever, they are going to hire you to do a training Video. Impressed. Take care.
I'm just building my first tunnel out of scrap plastic gas pipe for the hoops and scrap wood God bless you bro
Great video to have a realistic idea of what is involved building one of these frames and whether it is possible to cover in aviary mesh and tin sheets instead of the plastic to make a chicken coop complete with how to do the door 🙂 🐓
Thank you.
We are on building a poly tunnel at the school I work at hope it turns out like yours
Video done well.
HI Joe. Just watching this again to make sure I order the correct bits for my tunnel frame as I am going to cover it in a week or two (now the storms are over) . You said about 'heating this bad boy' lol, can I ask what sort of heating would you use? I have looked at various different options but cant decide. I have no power on my plot, unsure if you have. Many thanks.
(7/14/19). Looks like you could have use two more hands with the cover. Never saw one of though being put together. It is a lot of work but in the end it will be worst it. Can't wait to look at the video on the tunnel. From Iowa. :) :)
That beard is coming on strong 😊
You guys build lots of hoop houses there. Do you purchase on line or do you get them in country. Here in the States I wouldn’t even know where to find one. Looks so nice and definitely useful where the weather is bad. I could use one here in Alaska but can’t spend a fortune.
Looks great! Is it 6mx3m? I need to watch it again when I get mine, might take me a week to complete! 😂
Have just taken delivery of a First Tunnels 6' X 8' polytunnel and after looking at the 10 packages am feeling highly daunted. Your video is excellent but am not sure my D-I-Y skills , not to mention tools, are up to this sort of job. Not going to be easy doing it on my own for sure, what do you think ?
Hi wonder what's the width of the anti hot spot tape you used? Are they 25mm diameter the metal hoops?
You should have put a diesel space heater inside and got it hot. Then stretch it.

Next time haha we got it pretty tight
Great video. i wish I had seen it before I started building my first tunnel polytunnel. Everything has gone to plan until I covered the polytunnel frame. There is an excess of plastic sheet at both endsw. I'd like to ask did you cut any of the excess plastic BEFORE starting to nail to the door frame. And finally did you nail the plastic to the front base rail before starting to pleat the plastic. Cheers

Hi Joe Great informative video. Now about to finish our first polytunnel and I noticed that you nailed the battens straight onto the plastic on the base rails. I’ve also noticed some people wrap the battens around the plastic before fixing, which do you think is best? Keep up the good work 👍🏻

I think you would always get greater tension by standing on the excess and nailing directly into the poly but I did do the wrap method on the mesh door and that was pretty tight haha share you pics on the Facebook group bud would love to see

@@diggingfordinner That's good to know, cheers for the update pal!
I see you have fitted the hinges on the outside of the door so it can open outwards....is there not going to be a problem with rust and corrosion over time ?
