This film and Bumblebee are actually reboots. One of the producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura just says it's in the same timeline as the other films because they made him a lot of money. The director confirmed this is a new universe separated from the other films, and this movie is HIS vision. Characters like Wheeljack, Arcee, and Unicron prove this by being portrayed completely differently.

Just a thing about how seb mentioned how prime destroyed the key despite trying to keep it the whole time instead of destroying it earlier, so prime has an arc in this film, he starts out not caring for humans at all and wanting to use the key to return to cybertron, but by the end he befriends Noah and learns that humans are worth protecting and he destroys the key so earth can be saved

Yeah finally the other characters get a chance to be treated better. That was one of my main complaints about these movies you have all these Autobots that people love, but choose to only focus on Optimus and Bumblebee while the others are just in the background standing there. I get it Optimus and Bumblebee are popular, but jeez give the others their moments to shine. Hopefully we get to see the other Autobots get their moments to shine and get explore their characters and personalities

Now Seb, to clear up your confusion around the end there, it’s essentially Hasbro saying that the Bayverse has essentially been reduced to atoms and that this is a rebooted universe at this point. Also Noah was straining to pull Optimus with the Mirage suit dude, it’s not like the suit was moving autonomously to Noahs will. All in all, can’t wait to see what comes next in this new Transformers/G.I.Joe universe… Or maybe at this point the Hasbroverse.

I liked the characters in this film. Just so you know. When you said the final fight didn’t need to happen because they could just blow it up, we’ll the Autobots can’t go home now. They sacrificed there home for Earth.

What I like about this movie is that they actually gave the other transformers screen time and actual dialogue unlike the other movies where there just for show

Primal and airazor were the only maximals with lines. Wheeljack and stratosphere nonly had 10 lines between and they downplayed optimus's power

It is important to pay close attention to the story as it clearly highlights these parallels. The similarities between Optimus and Noah, who both exhibit a shared determination to protect their families and act in their best interests. Less jokes more listening.

Okay just to clear some stuff, the main character getting mirages upgrades is sort of a thing that happened to g1, it was called an exo suit. And yes im pretty sure transformers and gi joe are connected in the same universe

There were crossovers in comics like how marvel and dc cross. But they are not in the same universe normally. Hasbro most likely did this because the gi joe series didn't do as well as they hoped and it'll sell more toys

The exo suits could even go back to the Engine Masters, Target Masters, Head Masters. Don't know if they all made it into the animated series but I remember those cheap gimmicky toys waay back when. In fact, Noah riding on the back of Bee was very much how they animated Head Master interaction during battle

honestly same, I watched a single trailer and went into it with minimal knowledge about the plot (AND THE SOUNDTRACK, that was wild on its own) so there were some parts that wrecked me

If you didn't know, G.I Joe once had a crossover with the transformes franchise back then in the comics ( I don't know if they still continue to produce those comics). Both of them shared the same universe but, it wasn't considered a canon in the transformers universe until now. I'm suprised and concerned on how they will pull this off, but I'll keep expectaions low on this one.

I know you say some of it is goofy or silly, but this, this movie right here, is what Transformers really is! EDIT: Guys I just meant that I felt the tone of the characters felt a lot like a lot of the Transformers cartoons, why can't you just let people like things?

I quite enjoyed this movie, my only complaint of this film is that we didn’t get enough Cheetor and Rhinox. I think Noah and Elena are the best human characters we’ve had in these movies. I also love how they brought the Exo-suit in the mix as it shows a deeper connection, or friendship, between humans and autobots. (I can see why you think it’s silly tho) Also, this movie and Bumblebee don’t connect to the others. I think this is the closest film to the source material

It might just be recency bias but I really liked Noah and Elena equally. As long as you don’t say Cade was the best I can get behind your argument.

When I saw Noah in the exosuit, it reminded me a lot of the Headmasters/Targetmasters line, where Nebulans (basically humans) could transform into the heads of Transformers, in a symbiotic relationship.

What I love about ROTB is that the cyberptronians don't fall apart when they get shot. It shows how durable they are. Also ROTB is not a prequel to the Bay films because Prime arrived on Earth in 2007 whereas in ROTB he arrives in the 90s.

So this movie and the bumblebee movie are connected, but they are not a prequel to the bayformers films (both rise of the beasts and bumblebee are in totally different universe) so we can't really predict anything except for a GI Joe collab.

This movie is amazing honestly. Feel like the trailer spoiled too much though. And Bee flying out of the plane is the best moment by far imo

The two things I wish they did not spoil in trailers: (1. Unicron. The 1986 animated film was my introduction to the franchise, and I have loved Unicron ever since, so I would have loved for that to be a surprise. (2. Bumblebee jumping out of the plane. I still probably would have guessed he was going to come back to life-they do not have the balls to kill off a main character-, but it still would have been cool to see him triumphantly return by jumping out of Stratosphere amidst the finale without having it spoiled. I knew he was not staying dead, but his death still gave me chills and did a great job at establishing Scourge as a threat and to demonstrate his ruthlessness. So, it still got a reaction out of me, but it could have been an even better moment.

Not only is this movie is set in the 90's, but Optimus (as well as all the others) has a vastly different design. If you notice this yet can't tell it's a different continuity, that's your own fault.

A lot of the lore like Unicron was basically copied exactly from the 1986 animated transformers movie, definitely recommend Seb check it out as it’s very enjoyable even if you can’t tell exactly who’s who, and I bet he’d recognise more than he’d think. Also the part when Scourge talks to Unicron has a extract of the track ‘Unicron Medley’ from the 1986 movie!

It's a bit frustrating as I've been subbed to Seb for a while now but recently had to unsubscribe. His earlier content was decent and funny but everything lately he just constantly complains about everything. Even stuff that isn't even valid complaints like you pointed out. It's like he went into Transformers expecting Oscar worthy plot and dialogue when that's never ever been the case. Dude just whines about nonsense now

Nobody ever says it, but I LOVE the reference to G1 Mirage when he turns into the F1 car when talking about cash

I might be weird but I thought this was honestly one of the best movies I’ve seen lol. Maybe it’s cuz I only focus on how cool it is and not the whole plot and stuff

I recommend you rewatch this on your own time because this is a reboot and it would be far more understandable knowing that. And that’s also y the bots are all a lot smaller. Prime in this is like 2ft taller than Michael bay bumblebee. The sizes are far more realistic in this and they did well

To remind you again this is NOT connected to michael bay films it is its own continuity so for all we know bee could have died

Bumblebee entrance might be better than every other entrance i've ever seen in movie history, excluding thor's entrance in infinity war

My experience with this film was amplified by the fact me and my friends hand the whole cinema room to ourselves

Actually his voice box broken makes a lot more sense in Reboot. Because there is no Ratchet to be around. He is the medical officer who fix the Autobots. His Voicebox is still broken makes a lot of sense. Also, he doesn’t have his Voice box after Bumblebee. Expecting him to stay silent until he found a new one or atleast Ratchet able to make one.

I watched it 2 days ago, such a good movie in my opinion. I really enjoyed this one

Wow, I am really suprised Seb didn’t like this one as much as I thought he would. Everyone I’ve seen has absolutely loved this. Again, Bumblebee and this film aren’t connected to the old films. It’s a new universe from here on out, so no more Sam or Markie Mark. So if a character dies, then yeah, it’s gonna stick. And yeah, the Maximals could have been in it more, but what we got with them is enough and I know we’ll see more of them next time. And as for Noah and Eliana, I don’t think they were terrible at all. Compared to past films, they actually had a reason for them to get evolved. Yeah, Noah looked weird in the exo suit, but I still liked it, and gave a chance for a human to actually have a way to fight in something without a human villian. Plus, this film was just pure fun Again, I’m really surprised he didn’t like it. It’s okay if he doesn’t, but given how much praise has gone to this film, I’m shocked

I mean I disagree with the humans. They actually had no reason to be there, Noah was kidnapped by Mirage as he tried to get out before he transformers and before the gaurd showed up and the only reason for Elena was becuase she could read thousands year old maximal symbols that not even airqzor could read but then ultimately lead nowhere as the key was already in the hands of the maximals who then found the humans. So then they say she has the shut down code which also leads no where as prime destroys the key anyway. So all the human reasons to be there amount to... well " I'm not gonna trust my planet to a guy who couldn't protect his" which is a disrespectful since he has no clue of the state of a millions of year long Civil War.

Personally, I’d rather they don’t continue this as once again they can’t seem to just make a movie without human involvement. They did it right in the first 10 minutes of Bumblebee than went on to screw up the rest of the movie by leaving Cybertron. I just want a War for Cybertron movie.

Am I the only one who thinks the human characters were fine, and a part of what makes this movie so great?

Oh, I enjoyed this movie a lot. The humans felt better written, and the robots felt more distinguishable along with having arcs. All in all, I enjoyed this way more than the last two transformers movies and they finally fixed what I thought was wrong with the first three if you’re gonna have humans in it, which it seems like that’s their plan, at least make them written well.

When Airazor died it made me cry so much, Airazor telling Primal it is ok, and seeing the pain in Primal face, it got in the feels.😭❤️🦅

You make a good point by saying “they had to get the worst place” the issue I have with the ending fight is the fact that it is to similar to endgame where it’s just a big bland field the reason people loved the fights from transformers 1-4 was because they had cover and actually was set in a realistic place

I loved this movie when I went to see it. I laughed at some parts, got emotional at others, I got a little bit annoyed at others, too. I wasn't expecting to love Mirage as much as I did, given who his voice actor was, but surprise surprise. The teamwork between the Autobots and the Maximals as they worked together to take down the Terrorcons and Unicron was amazing. I felt my jaw drop when I saw Scourge kill Bumblebee, but I was ecstatic when he made his epic entrance into the fight after being re-energized by all the Energon deposits. Honestly, hearing the voices of Peter Cullen and Ron Perlman in the same movie is way too cool to not love. I gave this movie a solid 9/10.

The exo suit Noah wasn’t goofy. In the transformers G1 cartoon in 1984, they gave the human characters they met exo suits to travel in space and fight along

The movie isn’t bad by any means but it still has plenty of weak points. The human characters were very boring. And the acting was lack luster. In some of the action scenes the auto bots don’t feel very big and they seem lightweight in the way they move. The pacing in some areas was also weird. The design of wheeljack is a joke compared to every other design besides the Baymovies. Air razors placement felt odd. She seemed very capable yet was held back by writing. Which was strange. She literally could of shot at scourge but decided to blast the bridge instead. The fact she was also hit by scourge after was also strange. She is a bird she should be able to know how to evade. I don’t think enough time was given to develop the characters. The best thing about this he movie are the designs. (Aside from wheeljack and, imo, Optimus primes face.) And the animation that controls those designs. (Except in some parts where it felt rushed.) a The worst bits were the human characters acting and writing.

I believe he’s under the impression that Tranformers is supposed to be “Giant robots fight” and nothing else as opposed to a cheesy Saturday morning cartoon that thrives off corny stuff that just so happens to also have giant robots fighting.

Nah man, I don't agree with your take on this movie at all. This movie is fantastic. This is the first live action Transformers movie that isn't ashamed of it's source material, and actually treats the original series' concepts with respect. Even characters like Wheeljack, who aren't super authentic to their original counterpart, are more memorable here than they ever were in the Bay movies. And yes, every Autobot in this movie (except Stratosphere) was in the original Bay movies. Mirage, Arcee, Wheeljack, they were all there. But you'd never have known because they almost never mention their names, they don't look anything like their original series counterparts, and they barely speak at all.

I thought this was an incredible movie, very faithful to the original show. This is EXACTLY what Transformers should be about in my opinion. Its literally everything I wanted, even though I grew up on the Bayverse movies. I cannot tell you how much I cried upon hearing the Bayverse soundtrack in cinemas towards the end of the film since its so nostalgic to me. These movies have NOTHING to do with the Michael Bay movies! Its a complete reboot, a whole new story and a whole new vision. We don't know what will happen in future movies. Edit: Okay I have to be honest, but I've never seen such a nit-picky reaction to this movie oh my god, its actually so frustrating 💀

It’s justified. The humans were pretty annoying, Maximals felt like side characters, and the exo suit was honestly pretty ridiculous for my taste. Just give us a film that ONLY takes place on cybertron during the war.

man , i remember when i saw this scene ( 19:25 ) of this masterpiece of a movie in the cinema , in this scene exactly , i did start feeling that i must go pee , AND i was in the cinema , which , unfortuanly , prevented me from seeing the entire of the movie in it's full enjoyment , and i continued the movie holding it , until the movie ended , and i instantly moved on to the closest restroom

I think it wasnt clear, but since Bulblebee the Transformers universe was rebooted. Even though this movie happens in the 90s it has nothing to do with the Michael Bay ones. I really enjoyed this film, like waaaaaay more the previous ones, they chose a nice direction to go with Rise of the Beasts. Especially if the G.I. Joe thing at end is a hint that Hasbro is planning to make their own cinematic universe putting togheter all of their toys.

The movie is the second instalment in the new rebooted transformers timeline, with bumblebee being the first one. There’s a higher up named Lorenzo (🤡) who keeps saying that these movies are prequels but the director Steven Caple Jr has stated very clearly that ROTB and Bumblebee are their own separate things. I mean according to the Bayverse bumbelbee was fighting Nazis in 1945 and Unicron was inside of Earth, which are clearly not the case here.

Everyone says how it’s in the past we know they will all survive, but this is actually a reboot that started with the movie bumblebee prior then this one leading to three more installments

The humans were atrocious and the Maximals felt like a bunch of side characters yet the movie is Rise of the Beasts. It’s a solid 6.5/10. Also, the rap for music in the final battle made the whole thing seem like a joke. But that’s just me.

In the original cartoon the human helping the transformers had a suit like this dude has, it looks like they’re were trying to incorporate a little from multiple shows

Yo Seb. Some background for this movie. The movie imo is very good, theres deleted scenes that make the movie better. As for the origins of the movie. For 1: This is a new timeline after Bumblebee. This and Bumblebee are the only movies in this timeline so far. Thats why so many things we never see again are happening. 2: The origin of Maximals are from Transformers: Beast Wars from 1996, in which the designs are pretty failthful for the most part. 3: G.I. Joe is indeed a transformers counterpart. Theres quite a few comics on it. Theres a lot of background info needed to make this movie feel as good as it can, but personally this movies in my top 3 definitely

Exactly what I had in mind when I walk out of the theater, the movie made so many questionable choices such as beast war characters getting so little screen time & the awkward interaction between the human characters, but I'm still genuinely happy when the bots are kicking butts.

That's true, and the thought of getting a suit, made from a transformers' parts, is kind of cool.

The Noah Iron Man Mirage suit is kinda outta left field but I liked it cause it was different and the main human character wasn’t useless for once.

FYI This is a reboot so bumblebee dying was impactful for anyone who didn't watch the trailers with him later in the movie but who didn't watch the trailers?

To awnser your question, the Maximals first appeared in "Beast Wars" a cartoon from the 90s that was a reboot of the franchise in an attempt to reignight interest in them. It was set on a planet resembling prehistoric earth focused exclusively on the Maximals and Predacons (the latter faction being led by a version of Megatron who turns into a purple T-Rex) although the desings are different here; in the first season they are fully organic in beast mode, while the second season included Transmetals, which is more robotic beasts, I'd say the designs hue closer to either Transmetal 2, the second redesign from season 3, or the Techno Organic reformatting from the sequal series "Beast Machines." The animation is... 90s CGI animation and it was controversial at the time with fans of G1, given how much of a depature it was, but it is looked back on quite fondly these days, which is exactly why they brought the Maximals into the films. There have also been a few cases of humans having some form of power armour, most iconically the Exo-suits, which could transform, and were featured in the 1986 film, similarly the main human Kicker (who believe me is seen as far more annoying than any of the Live action characters by fans) from "Transfomers Energon" primarily wore a battle suit, both of the aforementioned suits have been compared to Noah's suit. There were also the 'masters'; Headmasters, Targetmasters and Powermasters (and I think a few others) which was a series of figures that were realeased around the end of the original G1 cartoon, which came with a smaller figure ment to represent a human (or human sized alien) in a suit, with the powermasters turning into little engine blocks, which combined with the larger figure, targemasters turning into guns for them, while the Headmasters ran schools for the bigger figures... wait no, they turned into the heads of the bigger figures.

This exceeded my expectations. Elena getting lowkey hate is bizarre. She isn't the best actress, but neither are most of the other people in the transformer films. Hailee Steinfeld's character and Elena are the only two females who actually do something.
