DEADPOOL (2016) MOVIE REACTION - I DIDN'T EXPECT TO LAUGH THIS HARD! - First Time Watching - Review
Ойын-сауық
Welcome to my first-time watching as we react to Deadpool (2016). An incredibly funny movie starring Ryan Reynolds in the role he was most definitely born to play, Wade Wilson/Deadpool.
Director Tim Miller did an excellent job handling the fantastic action sequences and the tone swerving from all out fun to dramatic in a blink of an eye. It was such a fun watch to see the Merc with a Mouth's outrageous antics, fourth-wall-breaking humor, and unexpected charm.
"Deadpool" introduces us to Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, a wisecracking former special forces operative turned antihero with a penchant for breaking rules. There are so many elements that make Deadpool truly standout from other films in the genre. From Ryan Reynolds fantastic comedic timing as well as his fantastic performance to the emotional depth they were able to give a character who is constantly making light of dire circumstances to the pacing of the action this movie does a lot of things very well!
We hope that you enjoy our reactions, commentary and discussions as we delve into the film's themes, how it impacted the superhero genre and how allowing this film to be R rated is exactly what we needed.
Sit back and relax and join us as I experience "Deadpool" for the first time!

The greatest part about this movie is the long-running gag that most people don't even pick up on. Wade spends the entire movie killing people after asking them "Where's Francis?" The problem with that is no one in the organization outside of the room when Wade said his name knew him as Francis. Everyone who knows him, knows him as Ajax. If Wade had asked the first person "Where's Ajax?" he probably would have found him shortly after and avoided all of the complications and maximum effort in between.

@Barovian20

@@lokithecat7225 Never once has that fan theory been confirmed as inaccurate actually, and the Zamboni Guy doesn't really prove anything. The only person who confirmed knowing Ajax's name was Francis outside of the reveal was The Recruiter. By the time he got the the Zamboni Guy, most people could figure out who he was looking for because he had killed over half of the organization. At the start, if he had interrogated (and allowed the victim to actually answer before killing them) someone and asked for Ajax he likely would have found him much sooner. Think of it this way. Francis quite obviously didn't want people to know his name was Francis. Do you then reason that he made sure every low-level person in the organization knew that was his name? Or does it make more sense that a dozen low-level people died from a costumed guy looking for their boss name Francis, and everyone else made the obvious connection later that Ajax=Francis?

@@Barovian20 Deadpool, as a character is more than capable of finding the info if he wasn't so busy being Deadpool and making and entertaining movie. Wade could easily tracked down the Creep (who was the person who led him to Francis eventually) right off the bat, as he was a "Public facing" Part of the company, who he had his bloody phone Number for already. Deadpool needed to be the wall breaking "Merc with a Mouth" not competent. It wasn't "Whoops wrong name" it was "Maximum Effort", because it is in character. And, again, he did ask the Zamoboni guy "Tell me where your boss is" not "Where's Francis" and he DEFINETELY had time to Answer... Sure, it was late, but it made no difference, because he wasn't trying to advance the Plot, he was trying to be Deadpool.

Fun fact: usually in movies, if a character's face is completely covered, these scenes would be acted out by a stunt-double and then the main star would come and record the dialogue later, but Ryan Reynolds insisted on being there, on set, wearing the FULL Deadpool costume, because he knew people would recognize the difference in body language.

The thing about Deadpool forgetting his bag of guns and ammo is done because the studio cut their funding, so the filmmakers had to make the action scenes more small scale than they intended. For all intents and purposes, they made it work even with a reduced budget. Another easter egg is the broken down shield helicarrier in the final fight.
Interesting side note, the final battle here takes place at one of the destroyed SHIELD Heli carriers from 'Captain America Winter Soldier'.

Weapon X was a program to give completely normal humans genetic mutations, and strengthen the genetic mutations of already existing mutants (Wolverine getting Adamantine in his bones). The serum they are injected with gives them the X gene but it will not be activated in normal humans unless they are subjected to extreme moments of stress (tortured) where their bodies believe them to be on the brink of death so it turn the X gene activates giving them a mutation to survive the ordeal. In Deadpool’s case however it didn’t mutate him, it mutated the cancer in his body. The cancer mutated in order to grow new cells and help him survive, basically giving him super cancer that left him in peak human condition, gave him godly healing, increased agility, speed, and reflexes due to the non existence of factors such as lactic acid, muscle soreness, and loss of breath.

The thing about Deadpool's skin: it's not burn scar tissue. Since his mutant power is regeneration, of ALL his cells, that includes the cancer cells. His power just pushes the cancer away from his healthy organs to keep him alive, so.... his skin is tumors :P And yes, Ajax is the name of a dish soap, which in turn is named after Ajax, the King of Salamis in Classical Greek myth, who was said to be "stronger than all of Greece". Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease" :P And of course none of his henchmen know his real name, which is why Deadpool gets nowhere asking for Francis :P Also, unofficially acknowledged but that is a derelict SHIELD helicarrier Wade and Ajax are fighting on at the end.

Around the time Deadpool first appeared in Marvel comics, they introduced the concept of a secondary mutation. Basically, when a mutant underwent great stress (usually in a life threatening circumstance) a dormant secondary mutation would be triggered. This lead to the situation we see in the movie, where they tried to trigger this hidden mutation in seemingly normal people.
In the comics Vanessa was a mutant. She had blue skin & the ability to shapeshift like Mystique; but unlike Mystique her ability went so far down to the genetic level she could reproduce the powers of the person she turned into.

You guys are quickly becoming my favorite reactors, right next to TBR Schmitt and Cinebinge. This is the undisputed top three in any order you prefer. :). Keep on keeping on!

Agreed
also the reaction to Deadpool's face is literally a thing from the comics where everyone is horrified and disgusted, and when they see his face and you finally see it, he's just. Like the film. Probably one of the best long-running gags. (especially since if he wears a wig he's considered tolerable, which they borrow later).
My honest favorite thing about Deadpool movies was the fact that they kept with him breaking the fourth wall and Deadpool was one of the only characters who literally can see and interact with the fourth wall
We don't talk about that Deadpool.
Fantastic stuff guys! You *deserve wayyyy more subs

Aw man! Thanks for being awesome 😄
Ohhhh I've been waiting for you peeps to watch this! One of the most delightful surprises of the last few years was how much my then 70 year old mother LOVED this movie. She's since passed, and for some reason I was hankering watching some scenes from it tonight, and was so happy to get to watch it with you!
This is the Deadpool we knew from the comics. Great to have writers who actually know the source material!
It's stupid they didn't think Deadpool could work because he's a character who's aware he's in comics/movie. As if nobody ever broke the 4th wall before. Whoever leaked the test footage was brilliant because it may not have happened without that.
OMG YAS!! This is the best Superhero Comedy film ever!! All I have to say!

They just understood the character! Everyone from Ryan to the director and writers made sure to keep the authenticity of the character when adapting him. The action is fantastic and the comedy just hits the spot!

I think one of the X-Men comics or films actually confirmed that every human is born with the mutant-gene (or X-gene) but as they mention in this, not everyone has it actively. I can't fully remember though. Also, I I know Green Lantern isn't the best film, but I still enjoyed it.

Hi, guys! "Deadpool" is not only one of the best superhero movies ever made, it's also arguably the funniest! Ryan Reynolds definitely understood the assignment! He deserved his Golden Globe nomination for "Best Actor, Musical or Comedy"! Even the closing credits were hilarious! The only thing that would've made them better would've been if Ajax was called "Francis" there, too! Other Ryan Reynolds suggestions: "Buried," "Free Guy," "The Croods," "Turbo," "Smokin' Aces," "Life," "The Adam Project," "Red Notice," "The Voices" and "Deadpool 2" (naturally)! I also loved your"Train to Busan" reaction! Another South Korean film suggestion is "Parasite," which won several Academy Awards, including "Best Picture."

yes... you will REALLY need to use your imagination on that one
The intro to this film is possibly the funniest I've ever seen in a film. Absolutely love Deadpool!
whats amazing is im jacksonville native and i laughed everytime they brought it up XD
Thanks for the reaction. Great movie. Reynolds was made to play this part. And Now for Something Completely Different: I would absolutely love to see a reaction of "Arlington Road" (1999) with Tim Robbins and Jeff Bridges. Or "Breakdown" (1997) with Kurt Russell and JT Walsh. Both have few to no reactions out there. Especially Arlington Road will stick with you for a while. The best movie nobody knows about no more...

Ahahah it certainly does resemble a CVS receipt but we're slowly and surely getting through it all 😂
No one really acknowledges Deadpool timing ability! His reaction time is insane!!!!
Baldur couldn’t feel pain, but he could regenerate, I don’t think Francis could regenerate. If he could though, I would’ve loved to see a Deadpool kills the marvel universe reference, because Wolverine can’t die, the only way Deadpool thinks he can make him suffer, is to hang him and set him on fire for all eternity.
Just found this channel, and I have to say. It's really well edited. A lot of reaction channels leave out the best bits. We'll done, can't wait to watch more.
If you've noticed, the final battle takes placed on the old style, Helicarrier 40:40 that and the weapons in his cab… I'm surprised he still had his job in the second movie
"self aware" = "breaking the fourth wall" (and talking directly to the audience) the post credits scene was a Ferris Beuller riff
finally, a pair, where both enjoy the humor of this.... thank you for this reaction...
Funfact about the "Radioactive Sharpei" line. Waaaaay back In the comics, Deadpool was asked what he looked like under the mask he said "like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Sharpei"
This was my first time viewing of one of your reactions and I love your channel already. I'm hooked. I've subscribed and will be binging on your other videos. Can't wait for Deadpool 2.
Your reaction production is so good. I really appreciate the all the edits. Very clean. The two talking head format works great for cleaning up gaps. Your short wrap-ups are perfect for KZread too. So just to comment on your channel in general. But this is a great reaction too. I loved hearing your comments on Deadpool.
You guys have one of the best reaction channels on KZread. I dunno why I love watching reactions so much but nevertheless, I love that you always leave in the highlights of certain movies. Scenes that tend to carry alot of gravity or importance. Since I work full time & have horses I usually don't have much time to watch movies so I opt for these reactions 😂 Awesome channel, love from Canada 🇨🇦❤
Deadpool is supposed to be one of a handful of characters who know that they are in a comicbook. That is why he does so many fourth wall breaks.
i saw this the first weekend it was out on a saturday evening and the cinema was packed and we all laughed so much, i'd never had so much fun with a group of strangers. also, this film is so infinitely quotable, certain lines have become part of my daily vocabulary
Looking forward for you both to review part 2! I love it when people appreciate a good movie!
One of my top comedies of all time. Kudos to the writers and Ryan for giving us a fantastic hilarious movie
12:03 It's interesting you say that. In 2004 there was a Deadpool comic and in one of the panels Deadpool says that he looks like "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar Pei". That same year Ryan was in a Blade movie and everyone said that his character in that movie was Deadpool-esque. Fascinated by the volume of people who felt this way, Ryan picked up a bunch of Deadpool comics, and the first one he read was the one where Wade says he looks like him. Ryan Reynolds has been in love ever since. The way things played out kinda feels like the universe wanted this.
Ryan Reynolds x Deadpool is just goated . Adult humour is peak entertainment and Marvel but more creative and Raw
28:30 He’s a walking tumor. His healing factor kills the cancer as fast as it appears. Edit: Also because his consciousness reaches beyond the 4th wall he is immune to memory problems. Also you could blow up his head and it would regenerate. So he is near immortal, so much so that he literally has banged lady death. Unlike the X-men origins Wolverine movie.
The ending with the robe post credit scene a nod to Farris Bueller’s day off 😂
To answer your question about Vanessa. In the comics, she is also a mutant. I don't mind that they changed the character for this movie. I don't know if they will ever address it in the films. She's cool in both versions. I'll not put any details about her abilities in case people don't want possible spoilers. She's a very cool character there, too.

Maybe Part3
I love how deadpool is fully aware he's a character in a comic book, can break the fourth wall, everything about this character is fucking amazing
Bless both of you for posting banger after banger
I love it how he said, "we don't talk about that Deadpool." When referring to the X-men wolverine origin movie.
The combination of any movie I love and this channel is an instaclick. There’s only one other channel I watch movies with and it’s for mostly different reasons. I love that you both know a lot about the medium and share that knowledge through commentary. I learn more every time. Looking forward to watching this as soon as I settle in from work.
