The Cornetto trilogy are all written, directed and acted by the same people. They are different characters, different stories - but they have similar styles. The Cornetto comes from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & Edgar Wright using Cornetto ice creams as a hangover cure. Chronologically the films are: Shaun of the Dead - Strawberry Cornetto (Zombie / Horror) Hot Fuzz - Vanilla Cornetto (buddy cop / action) World's End - Mint Cornetto (Sci-fi)

Spaced is fantastic.
Don't feel bad for Ed, he was pretty much a zombie before he was infected. Now he's living his best life playing video games in a shed.
The Irish guy in glasses, Dylan Moran, a series called Black Books, written by Graham Linehan and Dylan, hysterically funny. Linehan also wrote Father Ted and the IT Crowd.
Towards the end where the zombies are massed outside, one of them has a yellow cycling (or baseball) cap on - this character was named 'Tyres' O'Flaherty in the sitcom Spaced that Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson previously wrote and starred in, and is played by the same actor (Michael Smiley) in both film and series. A brilliant cameo from one of their old acting pals.

This one, and the whole trilogy, are movies you need to watch several times to really appreciate and catch everything 👍
Imo this is a highly intelligent film. You notice that key scenes of dialogue get repeated but their inference changed, all going to create not only funny scenes but very poignant too. Oh and it goes without saying that Edgar Wrights direction is superb!
Edgar Wright is such a brilliant director. Before the "outbreak" starts, he shows that in normal life, basically everyone is a zombie, going through the motions blindly.
Hot Fuzz is my own favourite of the trilogy. I'm sure it must have been mentioned in the other comments, but a Cornetto is an ice-cream - Ed asks for one when Shaun goes to the shop, and sits and eats it (you can see him licking the lid with 'Cornetto' written on it) when they sit and watch TV after they've dealt with their first zombies in the garden. This, Hot Fuzz and The World's End form the Trilogy, which is based around the different flavour and wrapper colour featured in each film.
@YannickoYT
Жыл бұрын
And the flavour of the Cornetto they're eating in each film also relates to the type of film: Red (Strawberry): Zombies SoTD Blue (Original): Police HF Green (Mint): Aliens TWE
You definitely need to watch this again, the films in the trilogy are purposely ‘layered’. They filmed it with the intention of you going and re-watching and noticing things you didn’t the first watch, it all ties in with the plot. Masterful writing and directing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@@Roadkill-Films yeah that sounds familiar. All three were pretty good in wrapping up the tiny loose ends of the story. Been waiting for this one. Glad you're watching it together. I grew up across the road from the Winchester (Duke of Albany) pub. My mum worked in that pub a few years before the film. It was a really rough Millwall supporters pub. 😂 It has since been changed into flats (apartments) though. You can still make out the pub from it though, which is cool. Still in New Cross, South East London. They were using locals as extras. I remember watching them film the scenes outside the park and pub when I was 16. I had no idea how big the movie would become. I assumed it was just some low budget movie. 😂 A couple of years after its release, I came across it to rent whilst I was in Australia. Blew my tiny little mind.
Simon Peg is such a fun actor and person. My Daughter went to Alton Towers and whilst strolling around Mr Peg was right there with his family. He was so nice and asked if she wanted a photo with him.
Ironic of her saying the gun stores catching on fire isn’t safe but she’s happy to have gun stores in the first place 😂 classic Americans
Glad you enjoyed this movie - great to watch along with you. Could I suggest you watch the series _SPACED_ - by the same director (Edgar Wright) and also starring _Simon Pegg_ and that _girl that QB liked_ ..and a whole bunch of people outta this movie. It's a quieter non-scary sitcom about two strangers getting a flatshare together (sharing an appartment) in London. It's really kooky, funny and has a zillion film references. Absolutely brilliant.
@dabe1971

The film was actually inspired by an episode of Spaced when Simon Pegg's character hallucinates after taking cheap speed and playing a marathon session of Resident Evil. The series was also co-written by Pegg and Jessica Hynes who played Yvonne who saved them with the "Biohazard" team. Simon and Edgar Wright thought it would be a great basis for a movie and this was the result. Hot Fuzz is the best of the Trilogy.

George Romero, the writer and director of the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead, really liked this film. So much so he cast Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright in Land of the Dead. A lot of the music cues in this come from Dawn of the Dead. Masterclass of a film, on a par with hot fuzz for jokes and foreshadowing

We don't need to go to a festival, we just have to dig down 5 feet in the back garden for a Gladius.

One of my favorite foreshadowing lines is Ed and Shaun's flatmate telling Ed "if you wanna live like an animal, live in the shed"
The zombie flatmate is peter sarafenawitch and he does an awesome impression of Sean Locke on 8 out of 10 cats as his teammate it's worth a watch 👍
The final part of the trilogy - the World's End - is the best of the three: a superb psychological study of Alcoholism and yet still funny. A Cornetto is an ice-cream, very popular in the UK.
Since this film whenever anything goes wrong we say " Let's go to the Winchester and wait for all this to blow over" but replace the Winchester with our locals name lol
Loving the Gladius!
Simon & Nick are always good together as a team in a comedy film - Hot Fuzz, Shaun, Worlds End & Paul (their Sci-Fi comedy one) . . . But Simon has also been in at least 2 M.I. films with Tom Cruise now as the tech guy . . . he also wrote - or co wrote one of the newer Star Trek films and was in the cast as the chief engineer Scotty also . . . He does get about . . . !!!!
Some trivia - The Winchester is a real pub. It used to be Simon Pegg's regular watering hole and he used to go there with Chris Martin from Coldplay before they were famous. Ed's line "We're coming to get you Barbara" is a reference to Night Of The Living Dead, where the heroine's brother teases her in the graveyard saying "THEY'RE coming to get you Barbara". There are a couple of cuts to allow for UK-US language differences. In the UK version he says about the girl in the garden "She's so pissed", meaning drunk, but to avoid confusion the US line was changed to simply "She's so drunk". So you're watching the US recut here. You might not have realised, but when the group runs into their lookalikes, Maggie is actually Jackie from Friday Night Dinner.
Went from worrying about the Zombie Apocalypse to the Florida Neighborhood Fire Bullet Apocalypse... great reaction!
Dylan Moran who plays David is a comedian who is really likeable. Btw, Fuzz was an American word for the police in the 60's/70's there was even a film called Fuzz in about 75.
