Marisa Tomei won a well deserved academy award for this.

"What are ya, a fucking world traveler" spoken in her sexy accent never gets old.

Vinny was able to sleep in the prison because the noise was loud but consistent and became like white noise. Being from New York myself I can confirm that the loud noises from the street (people yelling, music blasting, cars, sirens, etc) are so common that you get used to it. But falling asleep when it’s dead silent to then be jolted from it in the middle of the night by a sudden loud noise.....now that’s the worst.

I would also say that it was “city noise”, unlike hogs, freight trains whistles, and screech owls, which he wouldn’t be used to, being from Jersey.

No that is not how most owls sound, as far as I know, there is only one owl that sounds like that, the appropriately named Screech Owl we see in the movie.

Actually, the barn owl has the scariest scream of them all! They used to terrify me as a child. Screech owls sound more like an high pitched animal sound when you hear them at night, barn owls sound like a scream straight out of a horror movie.

That's a screech owl. Yeah they definitely screech. But yeah the barn owl definitely sounds like a demon from hell.

I'm pretty sure what we're supposed to get from Vinny sleeping well in jail is that it sounds like Brooklyn at night

Fred Gwynne (the judge) besides starring in "The Munsters" also was in the early 60's TV comedy series "Car 54, Where Are You?"

This movie is amazing. My brothers and I quote this movie constantly!

If you notice the sounds of nature woke him up. All the people screaming and banging - he slept right through with a little smile

Besides the part when she mic drops on that lawyer on the correct ignition timing question, I love that thing she says to him at the end about "actually having to walk up to someone and say thank you." I try to work it in in my own life but it's hard to find a situation to use it.

I'm from ny and I loved marisas' ny accent! Oscar well deserved!

One of the best examples of incredible writing, not only in a witty comedy aspect, but surprisingly accurate insight into courtroom procedure. Interestingly, many prominent law professors use this movie as part of course syllabus. Edit: I just discovered your channel today, and it's just wonderful. Thank you for what you do!

I thought you was going to pass out on that 'yout' line. Cracked me up just seeing your reaction to it.

Movie will never get Old!!!!

If you watch it again, try to catch Vinny and the two defendants at the table behind the Public Defender when he's making his opening statement. They barely hold it together.

And the actor Austin Pendleton who plays the public defender actually does have a stutter. Slightly exaggerated for the film but he did have a stutter, and he totally didn't wanna do the scene at first.

Bruce McGill also played the recurring character Jack Dalton in the original MacGyver series, and was in the first and last episodes of the original Quantum Leap.

Marissa won an Oscar for this! She deserved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marisa got a best actress Oscar for her role in this movie!

I don’t know what the real name is, but down-home we call them screech owls.

the Judge's name is Fred Gwynne..he also played Herman Munster from the 1960's tv show "The Munsters "..

Can see this movie 30 more yrs from now n still love it.

Mona Lisa Vito. I will NEVER forget her. 1992 was a great year because of this movie and my Graduation from H.S. AND, remember people. Lisa Vito is now Aunt May in the SPIDERMAN Movies. Great Post.

My cousin vinny is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Marisa tomei won an Oscar for thus role well deserved she used to be on as the world turns as a teenager

The Judge that looks so familiar is the late Great Fred Gwynne, best known for his role as Herman Munster!

He didn't know that Fred Gwynne (aka Herman Munster) played the judge? He was phenomenal at this role. That snooty southern attitude he put on contrasted perfectly with Pesci's Brooklyn bad boy persona.

16:20 "I know you got enough pressure on you already..." lmao, cracking up at her delivery of that line leading into that rant.

I don't see Vinny as "wet behind the ears". He has no trial experience but he has an incredible amount of street smarts, an instinct for the important details and an ability to communicate in terms people can understand even with people like these townspeople who might as well be aliens given the differences in their cultural backgrounds. That's the kind of thing they can't teach in law school and probably what made that lawyer encourage him to become a lawyer.

Unloading the .357 and the owl shuffling over a few steps towards the trunk of the tree, might be the greatest shot in film history..

such a great movie. wouldn't have been the same with anyone else in her role. she was great in clue too

Great reaction! I was sent this video after the movie came out and I was recovering in the hospital after a (near fatal) car accident (not my fault - they came over thee divider!). True. I laughed until it really hurt!

lol 'the two utes' - I read that scene was put in after the judge actually did have trouble understanding what Vinney was saying. Love this movie. Loved your reaction. ♥

To put things into perspective with the prison sounds, he grew up in Brooklyn.

The Super is a fun Pesci movie. I never see it mentioned but it deserves some love 🥰

I love how, in the "case is like building a house" scene, Pescis card changes from an Ace of Spades to a Joker. 😉

Look up "Car 54 Where are You?" That's an early Judge Farley.

I've noticed the thing with Pescis eyes too, it's also very noticable in Casino.

I love this movie. There's no real bad guy in this movie (except if you consider the real murderers) and once the innocence of Bill and Stan becomes clear, all charges are dropped. Fun Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent Gambini and Judge Haller regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film. Bonus Fact: Director Jonathan Lynn actually has a law degree and insisted the film's legal proceedings be realistic. In fact, many attorneys and law professors have praised the film for its accurate depiction of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, especially with regards to presenting expert witnesses at trial. In fact, the film has been screened at some law schools to illustrate courtroom procedures.

Yep! The Judge is Herman Munster from the 60's show THE MUNSTERS

He was able to sleep through the jail noise because he’s from New York. It was normal to him.

It's a sad day for comedy when you don't recognize Herman Munster.

My wife and I love this movie and a couple facts the chess pieces getting knocked over and when the stuttering guy is talking in the courtroom if you notice you can see joe and ralph macchio and the other guy trying not to laugh in the background

And yeah you may recognize the judge as being Herman Munster from the show back in the day :)

I'll never forget the terror my friend and I felt when we heard my mother screaming from upstairs. We ran so fast up the stairs to see what was wrong and when we opened the door she was laughing so hard she fell over and was trying so hard not to pee that she was screaming. It was the jail scene when he thinks Vinny is there to rape him.

Whenever I'm flipping through my channels on TV and I see it I wind up watching it. I've seen it so many times.

I love the judge who is best known as Herman Munster(Fred Gwynne) went to Harvard! The lawyer who could not talk can be seen in the OUTRAGEOUS comedy What’s Up Doc? from the 1970s.

There's another great court comedy with (strangely) Vin Diesel and Peter Dinklage, called "Find Me Guilty." Technically it's a true story, but it's very funny.

I freaking LOVE this movie! It's so underrated. One of my favorite Joe Pesci performances, believe it or not. Great video man! Just subscribed.

Pesci accidentally knocked over the chess set in Judge Haller's office for real. The director felt that it added to the scene and left it in.

That is awesome, especially since it coincided with him saying "Jerry Gallo", making it easier to gaslight the judge later into thinking he heard him incorrectly.

We had a can of Crisco.

Great movie. This is movies lawyers love it is very accurate it is not just a comedy. You should see other legal dramas like Rainmaker 1997 or A Civil Action . Also other great lawyer movie with Tom Cruz is The Firm and A Few Good Man. and Murder At First 1995 a movie based on true movie about injustice with Kevin Bacon. Also Erin Brucvich is a great movie. he part that always kills me is the public defender who looks so perfect and than he is completely useless where he cant speak at court.

the two little bicycle boys on the square were in film just because they were in the right place at the right time. they were riding their. bikes and the director asked them if they wanted to be in a movie.

Now watch Disorganized Crime. I remember the 2 yootes from English lessons class in 3rd or 4th grade.
