What About Bob? (1991) *FIRST TIME WATCHING MOVIE REACTION* Bill Murray HILARITY!

Ойын-сауық

Before going on vacation, self-involved psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) has the misfortune of taking on a new patient: Bob Wiley (Bill Murray). An exemplar of neediness and a compendium of phobias, Bob follows Marvin to his family's country house. Dr. Marvin tries to get him to leave; the trouble is, everyone love Bob. As his oblivious patient makes himself at home, Dr. Marvin loses his professional composure and, before long, may be ready for the loony bin himself.

"You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone!" [Leo opens the door; there's Bob] "Is this some radical new therapy?" "YOU SEE?" As of this moment, What About Bob? (1991) is playing free on KZread Movies. I cannot guarantee how long it will stay up, so go watch it while you can. Fun Fact: When Fay Marvin was tucking in Bob and her son Sigmund on the night of the Bob sleepover, she holds the sheets up to allow Bob to climb into his bed. Bill Murray improvises in the scene and crawls under the sheets head first, cracking up Julie Hagerty. Bonus Fact: Although Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Murray didn't personally get along, they hold no grudge against the other.

The wife is played by Julie Haggerty, and she was one of the main characters in "Airplane", that's where you might know her from. She's a great comic actress. / Yeah, this is not either of these guy's best movie, but people love it because you get to see these two beloved performers mix it up. They actually did not get along at all during the shooting of this movie! It was not a "hit" movie, it developed a cult following on cable. But "Down And Out In Beverly Hills" is a much better movie from beginning to end, and features Richard Dreyfus in a similar situation. (One reason why "What About Bob" probably wasn't a hit; we had all just seen "Down And Out In Beverly Hills" a few years earlier, and another one that was being played constantly on cable.)

Stripes, Meatballs (those are early films - - I love both but Stripes is probably the film I'd recommend more to a Murray newbie). Mid-years, I love Scrooged and What About Bob, which you're about to react to. Oh, of course, I can't believe I forgot this movie: Ghostbusters. Classic Bill Murray. Truthfully, I haven't seen much from him in recent years but my general opinion about Murray is you pretty much can't go wrong with him. Definitely think Stripes and Scrooged. For Richard Dreyfuss, there's a lot too. A great start is Close Encounters of the Third Kind, followed by Jaws. Or Jaws followed by Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I will echo Dreyfuss titles: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind DEFINITELY. And Down And Out In Beverly Hills, that's the movie that this movie is a slight rehash of, instead of Nick Nolte it's Bill Murray. And American Graffiti, the movie that made him (and many others) a star. And for Bill Murray comedies, Groundhog Day reigns supreme. You saw Caddyshack, the one after that is Stripes, that's a classic early 80s Bill Murray comedy. Also he was with the original cast of Saturday Night Live (he joined in the second season), that's a lot of his best stuff.

Fave Bill Murray movie? "Groundhog Day" by far. He's just as often a supporting player (like in "Caddyshack") and some of favorite "Bill Murray movies" are actually ones where he's a smaller character ("The Royal Tenenbaums", "Tootsie", "Ed Wood"). But "Groundhog Day" is my fave "Bill Murray movie" by far. That's him and Harold Ramis' greatest achievement in my opinion. And for Richard Dreyfuss? "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind", which is Steven Spielberg's greatest film in my opinion. And also, "American Graffiti", George Lucas' first hit movie (pre-Star Wars). Oh, and "Down And Out In Beverly Hills", which is a movie with some similarities "What About Bob" (but I think is actually a better movie. It came first, anyways) Dreyfus is an incredible actor, though, he has many great roles. He played Dick Cheney in "W", for instance, best thing in the movie.
