This is Kacee's first time watching reaction to the movie "Rat Race" (2001). In an ensemble film about easy money, greed, manipulation and bad driving, a Las Vegas casino tycoon entertains his wealthiest high rollers -- a group that will bet on anything -- by pitting six ordinary people against each other in a wild dash for $2 million jammed into a locker hundreds of miles away. The tycoon and his wealthy friends monitor each racer's every move to keep track of their favorites. The only rule in this race is that there are no rules.

She’s actually pretty good in this, showing that streak of crazy. She did some roles outside the norm and although they aren’t going to get her big nominations, at least she didn’t fold into the normal hollywood young girl path of movie choices (although her management probably hated that). She’s got balls too. Nudity in Crank was unnecessary and didn’t help her career, but she handled that weirdness really well and showed some brave acting chops. Same in that stoner movie with the guy that never did anything again….Farelly brothers movie iirc. Didn’t help her career but her performance was genuine.

Great reaction! Rat Race is one of my favorite comedies, really underrated. I am so glad you reacted to it. It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World is, in my opinion, just as funny as Rat Race, but it is also a product of a bygone era. It stars many of the biggest comedians of the 1950s and part of the humor is them being themselves (or the character types they used to portray), so many current-day reactors find it slow (they used to take more time to develop jokes) and not as funny. As someone familiar with those comedians (my mom and I used to watch lots of old comedies when I was a kid), I find it hilarious, but others do not.

In the gag reel for this as one of the DVD extras, it shows an extended part of the scene where Blaine is trying to convince Duane to put his portion of the money in the bag. During the filming of that scene, director Jerry Zucker asked the camera guy how much film was left in there, and he said only a couple of minutes. He had him keep it rolling for a while. While the camera is still rolling, Seth Green (Duane) even says "Just put it on the DVD". So they did.

Since it released in August of 2001, it might be the *very last movie* depicting fucking around with airport equipment for comedic effect.

I'm so glad you all watched this, a few months ago I was looking for reactions to this movie and there really aren't many out there, and they're not particularly good videos. This was EXACTLY what I hope for when I watch a reaction to a movie I love. So congrats on being the first ones to _that_ finish line....in a sense. 😜

You should check out It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, which is practically the same plot as Rat Race. Back then, it was an all-star cast of comedians and cameos, including Jimmy Durante, Phil Silvers, Jim Backus, and the Three Stooges.

I watched a movie my sister wanted to watch (was at her house) and right in the final scene, I remembered having watched it. That’s when it clicked: “no wonder I haven’t been loving this so far, it’s forgettable”.

It might've already been said, but the coin toss incident actually did happen a few years before this movie was released. On Thanksgiving Day 1998 the Steelers and Lions were headed to OT. As the away team the Steelers got to call it in the air, at which point Jerome Bettis (RB) called "head-tails". The coin landed on tails but as he had said "head(s)" first, it was decided the Lions won the toss. The Lions then proceeded to move down the field and kicked a game-winning FG (first score regardless of FG or TD won back then). It was a whole controversy thereafter because of how Bettis reacted in the moment and his public insistance he called tails. That being said, it is quite clear he called "head(s)" first and this incident is why the call is now declared clearly before the coin is flipped.

One of my all time favorite comedies! The ensemble cast and all the different stories that came together was perfect. Like the two of you, I like picking the winners at the beginning of reality shows, and probably 80 percent of the time, I actually get it right.
